However complicated you think the immune system is, it's more complicated than that. A whole new branch seems to be responsible for inflammation related to insect stings, poison ivy, and other skin conditions. Huh! www.science.org/content/arti...

For thirty plus years it has been very good advice that the moment you buy a computer you have to stop looking at prices and specs because everything gets cheaper and better almost immediately. This is a wild radical change and likely (hopefully?) transient.

This AM, another attack on clean transportation standards from the WH. Here are 3 ways states can step up: ⏩ Build more houses close to stuff people like. ⏩ Support electric trucks/cars. ⏩ New permanent revenue structures for zero-carbon transit. Illinois did this last year, PA and CA are next.

Upstream of the CSO's! Where Brookville Road crossed as an old ford before East-West Highway was built. But still downstream of industrial properties that have caused fish kills and an exotic pet storage site that did not have ideal containment. Sandy beach visible, but still not recommended.
Rock Creek just north of the District line, with a sandy beach near the location that the old Brookville Road used to ford the creek a century ago.

The classic issue is that, in a post-electrification of heat world, winter demand peaks will be worse with air source heat pumps, making costs higher for everyone. Ground source heat pumps would provide enormous grid-wide cost reductions but hard to get to the incentives to the right people.

I think those maps show how incredibly sensitive the economics are to state level incentives. Look at MD and MA. Worth noting that it is probably counting a small MD state program that was limited to a small number of grantees and is now expiring. It was not full scale available.

Not just any sheriff's department either, Anniston is the largest city (20K people) and county seat of Calhoun County (120K). So this isn't somewhere they didn't check his background, this is just shuffling him around people who absolutely know. And yes, the county is named for *that* Calhoun.

As a former fed who led a rulemaking effort, resisting leadership pressure to turn over decision making to contractors ("embedded staff") was already a fight. AI is going to make this worse. Final rulemaking decisions are frequently about values and accountability, and as the classic saying goes:

Just to follow up with the reference: From: Historic American Buildings Survey at the LoC. tile.loc.gov/storage-serv...
The NPS campus adopted the Exposition architectural forms but not the axial plan. John and Vesta Cassedy supposedly attended the Columbian Exposition and purchased a pattern book of architectural designs. These events could not be verified. None of the NPS campus buildings replicated any of the Chicago pavilions directly. Yet, Cassedy's eclectic collection of exotic buildings arranged in irregular clusters was a direct derivation of the World's Fair designs.

I think a deep dive into the loss of "social license" to operate might end up being warranted. In energy alone you have the travails of nuclear, the pressure on coal, and future discussions on natural gas. Data centers aren't being judged on direct impacts but on the broader social setting.
