Went down a rabbit hole of setting up calibre on my home server. Found a proxmox helper script for Autocaliweb - this community is doing amazing work. Also I can now browse my catalog on the xteink through opds! And sync reading progress with kosync!

Designed a pcb with pads for battery on the rear side that are supposed to connect to the microcontroller’s battery pads on the other side through vias. After soldering I can never ensure that the battery connects. Chat am I cooked?

Working on a new project to control my media devices (AV receiver, TV, Fire TV dongle) and a couple of lights/scenes. Using ESPhome with commands going through home assistant and Bluetooth.

A breadboard sits on a wood tabletop. On the breadboard is a seeed studio XIAO esp32 c6 microcontroller. Connected to the microcontroller and hanging off the breadboard is a rectangular 1100 mAh battery. Also connected to the microcontroller are small tactile buttons laid out on the breadboard in a staggered manner. They are connected to microcontroller via jumper wires of different colors.

If you spend time in the terminal, try bat, a replacement for cat (yes, I know that sounds utterly deranged) It adds syntax highlighting and Git integration, but still works like cat in when piped with other programs. Alias it to cat! Great for peeking at readmes, code, logs, etc

I love tools that are “invisible” and do one thing well. zoxide is a great example. It replaces cd in the terminal, remembers the directories I visit most, and lets me jump to them with just a few letters. I use it all the time! It saves me time and keystrokes, without making me think about it.

Just soldered 4 5m long LED strips together. Not a fun time.

On a bamboo desk lies a black silicone mat for 2/3 of the image from the left. Right 1/3 image shows a cardboard box with a bunch of white LED strip in it. The LED strip comes out of the box and into a black plastic spool on one end. The spool is right next to the cardboard box, on it left. Some of the led strip comes out of the spool and is lying flat on the previously mentioned black silicon mat. The LED strip extends past the image through the left. Also on the silicon mat is a golden steel wool ball on its top right with a soldering iron resting on it, connected to a white usb c cable

I sometimes worked really long hours in my twenties. I can’t do that anymore. When I did do it in my 20s, without fail I would soon find out that my output was awful and I had to eventually redo it or fix a bunch of things.
