Norbert Davis' Doan and Carstairs would have been great screwball comedies. His detectives were always incredibly sneaky or lucky. Doan was lucky he had a dog more civilized than he was.

File this book under so-bad-it's good. (1930-ish) Every story is aimed at immigrant readers and reads like "An Italian, a Jew, and an Irishman walk into a bar. The Irish guy kills everybody and wins!" Very cheerful about it. The morals crowd shut them down because of gangsters not the racism.

Today is the birthday of writer Fran Striker (Aug. 19, 1903-Sept. 4, 1962). Based on some initial concepts by producer George W. Trendle, he created the characters of the Lone Ranger, Tonto, the Green Hornet, Kato, & Sgt. Preston of the Yukon for radio.

I resent AI for the time it now costs me having to check virtually everything I see online to know if it’s real or not. I’m fairly savvy about this stuff and have been fooled plenty of times. This is what destroys us, not Skynet but the slow death of objective reality. It’s only going to get worse.
