Agreed. I'm seeing the interior was designed by the architect Peter Marino, who has an affinity to Ruscha.

"The county also reconfigured the 28-by-28-foot sculpture by adding weights to hoist up a portion of the mobile that it deemed as hanging too low and then attached a motor because, with the added weight, the mobile would no longer rotate on its own."

“[A State Department official called the painting] ‘very woke’ and ‘aesthetically terrifying.’” The painting:
A Kehinde Wiley portrait of four Dominicans — two men relaxed on the ground, two women standing, one subject of each gender having white skin while the other has darker skin. The four appear immersed in a backdrop of flowers — an aesthetic signature of Wiley’s work.

On this, isn't there lore that some artists began making tall, thin art precisely to fit BETWEEN the windows in brownstones?

Bryan Hilley @bbhilley.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Agreed. I've spent the past year researching lighting guidelines and there are acceptable ways to display objs in spaces with windows. I just wonder how the collections staff feels going through it all only to have your Director override it.
