When love of weaving collides with love of insects 🐜✨ I’ve been so fascinated by ants with really unique morphology and I wanted to interact with them artistically. I design a pixel image for each ant and then weave them into a teeny tiny overshot band 😊

I made a quick little pouch out of my woven ant bands! I designed 8 pixel charts of different ant species for this project, sized so that each band would be the same length. I chose species with, in my opinion, some of the coolest morphology- especially love the big heads 🐜 #weaving #sewing #ants

Another crotch seam repair, this one done by hand. The fabric had unraveled along the seam and created a hole, so I placed a black fabric patch underneath and reinforced with running stitches- aiming for subtlety! #mending

When it comes to boycotting, just a thought. It’s okay if you can’t quit a company cold turkey. In Master Gardeners, when we encourage people to switch to native plants, the goal is 70% native, not 100%. If you were shopping at a store 80% of the time and cut it back to 60%, that 20% still hurts.

Doing some visible mending lately. I finally sorted out all the socks that have holes in my drawer and made a small pile of socks that are worth the time to save. Luckily @wipgenerator.bsky.social recommended an excellent maker a while back who has an absolutely beautiful book on mending.

I’ve been working full time and thus not creating a lot these days, but here’s a throwback from the employee art show at our cafe last year- I got to hang up a collection of my weaving tools! I think my favorite are the ones with the Batrachoceps slender salamanders 💕 #weaving #sciart

I finished my Polworth spin!!! I had a tiny bit leftover and the chain ply was even better than the fractal! Ah! I should've sampled ahead of time. 😮‍💨 Still, a beautiful squishy worsted weight.
