Anyone with any experience of construction site safety would be appalled by this photo, clearly not very serious contractors. I'm not a safety professional, but work on a well managed site and have had training on what's good and bad. Unprotected fall risks, poor protection from falling objects...

After leaving HK in 2017, I have just become "resident" again, technically rather than actually. My shiny new HKID has the same number as before, but they added a CON to the card, "change of name", because I corrected the spelling of my surname, removing a space between Mc and F. #hongkonger again

The military has now confirmed that the target was an enterprise producing electronics used in Russian missiles, including for the Iskander operational-tactical missile system. Ukraine’s Armed Forces described the plant as a critically important part of Russia’s military-industrial complex. Anyway.

I found this on Reddit, it struck me how much I miss this guy. He was not without faults, and his life choices were often unwise, but his humanity and joy for life, in all its many colours and hues was exemplary. His shows are on repeat on my kitchen iPad, an inspiration. RIP Tony. #bourdainday

When there is a dwindling, finite resource on the one hand, and limitless sustainable alternatives, increasingly viable due to tech advances on the other, to bet the farm on the former is quite frankly, stupid. There are a lot of things about China that I hate, but they do not lack vision.
