At least two moments during last night’s watching of Furious made me punch the air at the quality of the writing. It’s not a police procedural; it’s a series of two-handers where characters surprise and delight you in combination. Every relationship is rinsed completely for truth. A masterclass.

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness. They produced NOTHING we still read. Thinking about that a lot lately.

2nd watch of The Odyssey, this time on IMAX. Packed cinema and the themes hit harder but not as hard as the blistering soundtrack. There are a few stumbles but there are moments of glory that kept us talking after the credits finished.
