KNOW YOUR PROTEST RIGHTS

1. You don't need a permit to protest in response to breaking news and you don't need a permit to march in the streets or along sidewalks, as long as you're not obstructing traffic or access to buildings.
2. When you are lawfully present in any public space, you have the right to photograph anything in plain public view, including federal buildings and the police.
3. If you believe your rights have been violated, when you can, write down everything you can remember, get contact information for any witnesses, and take photographs of any injuries.
4. If you get stopped by the police ask if you're free to go, if they say yes calmly walk away.
5. If you get arrested, you have the right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately. Don't sign say or agree to anything without a lawyer present.
6. If you get stopped by a member of the military or any law enforcement office at a protest, you have the right to remain silent or to tell them you'll only answer questions in the presence of an attorney-no matter your citizenship or immigration status.

Know your rights ACLU

On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself. Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right

Again: these people will not change their behavior or their culture until the consequences are meaningful. Start fining tech companies 1/3 their yearly revenue for each infraction, and then we'll start to get somewhere.

With a “WOW!,” President Trump posts a claim about DOGE and “royalties linked to Obamacare” that originated on a satirical website. That site’s own About section reads: “Everything on this website is fiction… If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”

Why are so many protestors wearing masks? Yes it's to protect against facial recognition and doxxing, but it's also to keep communities safe from COVID. As an organizer puts it: "we deny the Biden administration’s narrative about COVID — that it’s no longer a big deal."
But that gradual return to barefaced life never reached left-leaning protests, where face masks are widely used and encouraged.

Part of the reason, say organizers, remains an attempt to make a point about exposure to COVID-19 and other health risks, which some in the left-wing protest movements believe remain dire. And part is the threat of a different kind of exposure — from being captured by facial recognition technology or becoming doxxed (their personal information being shared online) by counter-protesters.

“To us, the optics are communicating that we deny the Biden administration’s narrative about COVID — that it’s no longer a big deal,” said Olan Mijana, a spokesman for the March on DNC 2024 coalition. “It’s about collective safety, and it’s also about connecting this COVID neglect to the very issues that we’re marching on the DNC for.”

You ever ponder how we read all kinds of articles about AI being used to prejudge criminals or detect wage theft or whatever, but never articles about it being used to forecast how much welfare a person needs to avoid criminality, or detect early signs of burnout to recommend work breaks?

This is monstrous. “A house on the beach is not a dream” An company from #Israel who specialises in Jewish housing in Occupied Palestine is already promoting a house on the beach over the ruins of #Gaza. Settler-colonialism on the back of ethnic cleansing of #Palestine. Monstrous.
Tweet from @Lana_Tabour a researcher in colonialism and Palestine.

Two pictures, one showing the ruins of a devastated area in Gaza bombed by Israel, with architectural schematics of new housing from an Israeli company planning to build over the ruins of Palestinian Houses and buildings where Palestinians were murdered. The second shows a colourful schematic of where these new Israeli beachfront properties are due to go, as if in a brochure.

Tweet reads "“A house on the beach is not a dream”: An Israeli real estate company specialising in Jewish settlements in the West Bank is planning for the day after. This is beyond aspirational, their staff is already working on plans."
