I am struggling today. I live in TN. Last night, the state tried to kill Christa and failed spectacularly. She was taken by ambulance from the death chamber to the hospital. As I write this, her condition has not yet been made public.

She got a stay Wednesday morning from a federal appeals court. SCOTUS overturned that later int the day and that led to the shit show execution attempt.

I don't know when Amnesty International posted that. There had been a stay issued about an hour before the originally scheduled execution at 10 on Wednesday morning. Maybe that's what they were referring to?

SCOTUS has ruled in the past that you can't execute someone who doesn't understand what and why it's happening. However TN executed Byron Black in Aug 2025 and he had brain damage and dementia. His execution was also torturous.

I saw a post from a medical professional that what all the media is calling snoring is actually agonal breathing which is a sign of extreme physiological distress. It's often associated w/ conditions that severely impair oxygenation to the brain, which makes sense here. Hence possible brain damage.

No, double jeopardy means you can't be tried twice for the same crime. It doesn't mean that the sadistic, incompetent, vengeance-focused state can't keep trying to kill you. 8th amendment applies or it would if we had a legit Supteme Court.

The same doctor that oversaw Tony Carruthers's botched execution in May (where they tried to find a vein for an hour before stopping) oversaw this one. Plus Christa has a condition that makes accessing veins particularly difficult. It's one reason she petitioned the court to use a firing squad.

Her co-defendant, Tadaryl Shipp, carved the pentagram. He was 17 and dabbling in Satanism. The murder itself had nothing to do with occult practices.

There was a stay this morning by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals that SCOTUS overturned late this afternoon. The death warrant expires at midnight. I think her lawyers are now trying to get an official order to halt everything but I'm not sure.

Brief rant. Being in the US illegally is not a crime. It is a civil violation. I wish journalists would push back when Homan and others talk about "criminal illegals." This just feeds the narrative that the folks ICE is kidnapping are actually criminals when they're not.
