I suspect he's not confident he could find a better partner than HBO/Warner. Doubling down on new leadership is a good way to sustain your own existence but eventually they'll chip away at you. Ideally: nothing changes. Realistically: I give it two years post merger before its ruined.

Watching people bend over backwards to come up with reasons why Control Resonant is also a terrible game that nobody should play is just kinda sad now. It's a speed run for a lot of content creators now to just find something to hate for clicks and its exhausting.

This is how I feel about basically all energy drinks now. Had to kick caffeine for health reasons but still will have one from time to time and if I don't chase them or mix them with something (Gator-bull for example) I just can't tolerate the flavor anymore.

I think the sales pitch of “this cube plays all the games you already own” is just a lot easier to understand compared to anything VR. Advertising VR has always been the biggest obstacle, Valve not immune to that I think.

It's less about feeling bad for the devs and more lamenting that the dominant form of games criticism now is unhinged viral hate-farming that picks a target and tears into it until there's not a drop of flesh left on its bones, when the crime is as benign as 'being a so-so superhero game'.
