If you want safe recursive resolution: github.com/hickory-dns/..., this is great, and also what we removed… because we didnt need recursive resolution and it bloated the binary a bunch.

All it took was writing our own DNS resolution crate & some number of months shaving down dependencies ☺️

Please be aware that this morning at about 07:10 UTC a malicious version (0.3.10, now removed) of the arrayref crate was published. This crate is a transitive dependency of iroh, via blake3 and might have made it onto your (CI) machine if you happened to cargo update between 07:10 and ~08:10 UTC.

Cross-platform AirDrop replacement that works both locally and over the internet using Iroh github.com/chad/iroh-drop I have Mac and Windows clients plus a protocol and rust-based CLI. Actually useful already but it could be polished and would love to have more clients.

Iroh can compile to WASM & run in the browser, it’s just relay-only connections. github.com/n0-computer/..., not entirely sure on files API permissions, but aside from any details there a web client should be doable!

These days I find myself using a "green eggs and ham test" to evaluate APIs. An API should be centered on doing a thing, with variations to support different use cases: - "would you like `ls` on a boat?" - "would you like `ls` with perms?" - "would you like `ls` on a plane, with sizes, in the rain?"

Alright, I think I'm starting to understand Iroh.computer, a bit at least. Going just to ramble off my understanding in public in the hopes someone tells me I'm completely wrong (and why if I am lucky), or maybe it will also help someone else? Any how it's a cool thing to talk/learn about!

From my view a lot of this work is in fact happening, but on the ATProto level. Bluesky the company send people to set up tracks at the IETF, and are supporting teams building this stuff. They may not be vocal enough for you (which is a valid viewpoint!), but I see lots of work from their team

The year is 2032. Claude Zardoz 19.4 is still trying to figure out how the f**k OAuth 2.0 works. It finds this conversation buried deep in its subconscious & yeets this one line into the latest release of shadcn. Everyone updates, DDOSing all OAuth servers & crashing the internet.

Yeah, it’s a big win when you can make the whole thing passive & just have it in a file
010
b5 @b5.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
It’s only a problem if you don’t know how much space you need in advance. You *could* save enough room to stick a metadata hash in there, which I think would be pretty elegant.
120
b5 @b5.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
If true, you end up in a situation where you can no longer give arbitrary metadata to users / need to figure out a way to guess how big that header should be for all cases, which is hard. Personally I think designs that include a small layer that bundles the two hashes together make more sense.
010
b5 @b5.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
My understanding is you would need to know the max size of the header prior to precomputing to get the right sequence numbers in the precomputed portion tho. Eg: max 10kib header, so your precompute would start with sequence number 9. Is that right @rklaehn.bsky.social?
