Looking Glass — PRE-ORDERS OPEN! @genshinaltzine.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

« Through The Looking Glass » 【Contributor Preview】 Next up in our exciting previews comes this captivating story by our writer @azzandra.bsky.social, where Alhaitham becomes a musician instead of a scholar and joins the performers of the Zubayr Theater. 🎼 #GenshinImpact #genshinaltzine

Through The Looking Glass-genshinaltzine
PRE-ORDERS OPEN until September 27
The first time Alhaitham touched a musical instrument, it was a simple child's flute, carved from wood and unadorned. The principle by which it worked was simple, and he grasped it intuitively: air blown through it made a sound. Covering one or more of the holes along its length changed the kind of sound that was made.
He was still young then, but he had already developed a kind of single-minded focus in pursuing subjects if they piqued his curiosity. Whether others thought it was something he ought to learn or not made little difference to him.
In those early years of his life, Alhaitham's interest lay in languages, and so, even though he found that the Akademiya could not hold his attention for very long, he still spent his carefully portioned allowance on whatever imported books he could find at the second-hand booksellers down the street from his grandmother's house.

happy birthday xie lian, have a big fluffy husband! #tgcf #RainBeArting

digital art of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian as an anthropomorphic fox and stoat, respectively. Hua Cheng is squatting down to hold his umbrella above a much smaller Xie Lian, who is happily offering him a flower about half as tall as himself

Xie Lian has his bamboo hat tied to his back and bandages wrapped around his wrists and neck. a piece of red string is wrapped around his paw and a miniature silver ring hangs from his neck. his ear is decorated by the tiniest red coral earring to ever exist, the second one barely visible on Hua Cheng's ear. he had to make it the center of a larger silver earring or it would've been too small.

Hua Cheng is wearing his usual glam, consisting of silver vambaces, many earrings, a butterfly necklace, the red string tied to his paw, and bands of leather around his ankles, also decorated with jingly silver (even though he isn't wearing any boots. hes just extra).
his right eye is covered by an eye patch, the other one gazing at his tiny husband lovingly.
his red umbrella (also decorated by silver of course) is tilted towards Xie Lian, leaving his tail to probably get wet in the bloody rain.

the background shows a forest, the trees and bushes stained red by the rain. more white flowers, like the one Xie Lian has plucked, are growing in the clearing hualian are in, likewise covered in blood. Hua Cheng and Xie Lian themselves have gotten their paws dirty from walking through the many red puddles, but they seem unbothered by this. a couple silver butterflies are fluttering about.

My mental health has been up and down and art has taken a lot of time to create, but I'm getting better! This is very late, but enjoy this art that I had intended to post for Mermay~ This took me way longer than I want to admit, but I'm finally happy with the result! #Hualian #TGCF #天官賜福 #花怜

A mermay art of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. Xie Lian is human and sits on a beach, leaning back on his arm as Hua Cheng, who is a merman, leans into him, one hand on his waist, holding him close, and the other hand is pressed into the sand. It's night time and moonlight bathes the two of them as they rest under a sea of stars.

gege, you’re just so strong and powerful! #myart #tgcf #hualian

A TGCF comic done in grayscale with red accents. San Lang is radiating an aura of menace behind Xie Lian, eyes glowing red, while Xie Lian ruefully comments, "Ah, they're gone. Almost like they got scared of me..."

He wonders nervously, "... Or maybe they got scared of something behind me?"

He turns to look at San Lang, who cocks his head at Xie Lian, smiling sweetly and angelically.

He exclaims, with a smile, "Daozhang, you looked so brave and heroic!"

when we mourn le guin, we mourn one of our greatest writers & thinkers. but we also mourn one of our all-time greatest haters

All you do is take all the sex out, and use little short words, and little dumb ideas, and don't be too scary, and be sure there's a happy ending. Right? Nothing to it. Write down. Right on.

If you do all that, you might even write Jonathan Livingston Seagull and make twenty billion dollars and have every adult in America reading your book.

But you won't have every kid in America reading your book. They will look at it, and they will see straight through it, with their clear, cold, beady little eyes, and they will put it down, and they will go away. Kids will devour vast amounts of garbage (and it is good for them) but they are not like adults: they have not yet learned to eat plastic.
