*PSA*: pleeease stop joking about “beef-curtains” or “mud flaps”. It’s misogynistic and racist (most curtain-havers are black women btw). Thank you for listening.

With new hype for Lilo and Stitch with the trailer, I just want to remind everyone that instead of casting Nani as a NATIVE Hawaiian they cast her as the daughter of a white real estate agent who moved to Hawaii to sell real estate. PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS MOVIE. More info in the thread below.

MAGA disinformation already in high gear from Trump down. The mass murderer in New Orleans was a U.S. Citizen who served in the United States Army. He was born and raised in Texas. Trump will use this atrocity as an excuse to demonize immigrants because facts and reality don't matter to him.

Christmas is not “merry” for everyone. I have memories of my momma crying & being depressed during this time of the year. Being poor and trying to make it happen for family is hard as hell. To my struggling sistas and brothas: never give up. I see you, you’re doing your best.

Amen! Six Triple Eight should be required watching in US schools. It’s a more than a great film: it’s a testament to what happens when we remove barriers to storytelling and focus on the people so often marginalized in our history books.

Virgie Tovar is in the news again and the negative responses only prove her point: fatness isn’t about health. It’s about stigma, respect, and people feeling they have the right to comment on how others live life and perceive themselves. Virgie is going to crush it as SF’s Weight Stigma Czar!!

Yes. Yes! Many yt men don’t realize they inhabit only one version of reality. It happens to be the popular version, but there are endless modalities, forms of indigenous, black and brown “magic” (knowledge) that refute and will eventually overcome closeminded yt reality. We dream! We manifest!

Donning my tinfoil hat for a sec: I’m VERY skeptical of any story from authorities about how they apprehended a suspect. If you’ve flown internationally in the last 5 years, you know many airports scan faces and don’t require physical passports on reentry. That’s TSA. Imagine the FBI version.

A vibrant illustration featuring four Black women with braided hair interlinked across their bodies, symbolizing connection and support. Each figure is depicted in a different posture, suggesting themes of growth, unity, connection. The background features a large, warm golden sun setting over rolling green hills and a gradient blue sky, creating a serene and reflective atmosphere.

IA minimalist illustration on a textured beige background, featuring four Black women with braided hair interlinked across their bodies. Colonial speech patterns, even when used in a cordial manner, always want to dominate the other. They always want to be in the right, thus when you speak, it is about winning. When Indigenous ways of speaking happen, it is to come to understanding (which is also not the same as "meeting halfway").

Seeing this response to the demise of a morally corrupt CEO is so damn heartening. My spirit soars when folks on both sides of the aisle are compelled to question their complicity in suffering. If it’s motivated by fear, so be it. This is the best mood I’ve been in since the election.

I know this isn’t a malicious post. I also want to point out that equating shades of brown with shit - demeaning the color as gross, ugly, whatever - has harmful implications. This is some people’s skin color. It’s damn close to my skin color. We’re better off CELEBRATING the color brown instead.
