Fun but very hard exercise to pick 9 #videogames that shaped me and my tastes. Honorable mention for Animal Crossing: Wild World which literally changed my life trajectory, but that's less about the game itself. I can definitely see the influence they had in what I want to write 😬 my9games.net/en

A grid containing 9 videogames with the title My 9 Games. The games are Outer Wilds, Disco Elysium, Inscryption, Blue Prince, Control, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Kentucky Route Zero, Portal, Into the Breach.

Working on a submission for @uncertainstories.com which I think would actually have a decent shot at being picked - wish me luck to finish it before the deadline at the end of the month 💀 #amwriting #shortstory #writing

Starting an internet Trans noir called Jaw Filler the blurb of which promises something deeply unhinged and terminally online. The first paragraph DEFINITELY delivered.

Book page. Chapter 1 on top. Section header: Detective Sean Hastings. Text reads: I cut my teeth as a middle-aged married businessman dom top like any other suburban teenage girl with gender dysphoria and dial-up. Twenty years later and the Internet is a different place, but some things stay the same - liars and cheats, and my ability to sniff them out.

One evening, two pizzas, and a lot of potential domain names later, I finally have my own author website! ✨ avwrites.fyi ✨ Thank you to the developer friend who babysat me through it and helped convert my code to Jekyll for easier posting. Also I'll never stop smirking at the domain name 🤭

In good #writing fashion, I spent the evening importing all my recent work and current drafts into #obsidian so I could have all of my projects in one place, instead of, you know, actually writing. Yay?

Playing #Demonschool and loving the clear #Persona influences. Maybe all these years of #gaming deep dive video essays did do something for my critical thinking skills after all?!

From Pity The Reader, #writing advice by #KurtVonnegut: the narrator/ character's reaction to something tells the reader that something is important. Ofc it's true, but it made me think how cool the flip side of it is – when the lack of reaction is used to establish a different type of normality

"Last year I wrote a zine titled 'I want to make a zine'. [...] This post is a spiritual successor to that." Trying to overcome artistic constipation, I wrote a short piece about not being able to write. You can read it here: avwrites.neocities.org/musings/i-want-to-write-again #writing #booksky

Rebranding this account to post about my writing instead of just duplicating my bookstagram. It'll keep the two a bit separate, and I won't have to verify I'm an adult AGAIN with Bluesky 🙄. Hello, #writing community! Hopefully you have space for one more person trying to get back into writing...

Practising a speech out loud and realising mid sentence that you're using @jacobgeller.com's exact cadence and stress patterns is surely a new life experience 😂 If this ends up sounding anything like a Jacob Geller video, I'll be very happy with myself.

Inside of me there are two wolves. One is firmly against getting a Switch 2 due to Nintendo's anti consumer practises. The other one is me as a kid playing Viva Piñata on Xbox in the early 2000s. #Pokopia

Recently discovered 2/3 of the books I was most excited to get from my wishlist are either out of print, US only, obscure novellas, were never physical books to begin with, or a mix of those things. Post-holiday shopping is gonna turn into a treasure hunt 💀

Got the delightful @samfern.bsky.social to do a professional developmental review of my novella's first draft – a first ever for me – and oh my god now I just want to shut myself in and write but I need to wait until life is less... *gestures at everything* 10/10 would recommend

I keep thinking about this recently ngl

The meme format with Lisa Simpson standing in front of an audience with a projector screen behind her back. The screen reads: "Social media stories are a massive scam created to manufacture FOMO and keep us glued to whatever platform is using them because truth is if we all posted permanent content there would be no urgency to check our feeds and we could just log in and catch up whenever."

@jacobgeller.com's How A Game Lives Deluxe Edition showed up on our doorstep today completely by surprise and it already has a full blown photoshoot planned. This is a wonderful piece of art, not only because of the writing, but because of its design, materials, colours – everything. Wonderful.

If you're trying to figure out where to donate this Pride season, whether its your own money or a corporate fund there's only one good answer at this point- DIRECTLY TO TRANS GFMS KO-FIS AND FUNDRAISERS. If you want to make actual change, since we know policymakers won't do shit, this is where.

Was reading about the #4chan hack on Reuters and brb gonna be laughing at this for the next 3-5 business days

Screenshot of a Reuters article about the 4chan hacking with the last two sentences highlighted. Text:

The publication TechCrunch cited an unnamed 4chan moderator as saying they had no reason to dispute the authenticity of the screenshots, and the site was only intermittently available on Tuesday.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the details of the incident, nor who might be behind the alleged hack.

Messages sent to 4chan's press email went unreturned. One of the two dozen or so alleged moderators purportedly exposed in the hack wrote back using their 4chan email address to say that the site had released a "video statement."

The user then pointed Reuters to an unrelated, explicit four-minute video montage. A request for further information was followed by a link to a different video with similar content.

February is the month I finally purge my #TBR and I've never done this before and I'm scared but IT'S TIME. This number hasn't budged in months, maybe a year - there's no way I still wanna read all of these 🤡 #BookSky 📚💙

That's a wrap on 2024! 🎇 Last year I read 60 books (~18.5k pages), less than 2023's 86 books (~25.5k pages), but still very good! Both years had an average score of 3.7⭐, so still a solid score! My 2025 challenge will be to do more re-reads, and I'm already loving it! #BookSky 📚💙
