Reagan's approach to the world prominently featured two things: 1) Russian aggression bad, Western democratic alliance good 2) Free trade good, tariffs and other barriers to trade bad Pretending it's the opposite is the sort of reality inversion only someone who rejects truth itself could buy.

AC is SO MUCH EASIER to decarbonize than heating...we're already like halfway to carbon free AC in the US, while heat is like 10% of the way there.

Apparently letting a country that gave up nukes be invaded will lead other countries to decide they better have nukes cos they won't believe your promises that they don't need nukes. Who could ever have guessed?

If the US lifts sanctions on Russia, while continuing to attempt to blackmail Ukraine into effective surrender, they’ll have undoubtedly moved from ally to adversary from a POV of European interests.

In Britain they’d be about a quarter of the way through planning permission by now, confronting a gaggle of local retirees with too much time on their hands who never wanted a cathedral there anyway.

Social networks don’t succeed purely because of a constant stream of users. Yet expect to see people saying Bluesky has ‘stalled’ when the current wave slows. What matters most is that people stick around and engage with each other. Which means everyone trying to make this place as good as it can be

Same. If a pub I frequented suddenly got a new landlord who let in all the people that were once barred *and* also encouraged them to be massive shits, I wouldn’t fight for the pub. I’d look for different pubs and encourage my friends to come with me.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that only 5% of lithium-ion batteries are recycled, with the rest going to landfill. This claim is, however, false. It [comes from] a report written in 2011 by Friends of the Earth, which divided volumes of collection by volumes of manufacturing at the time."
