@everyone Unfortunate announce. It appears the `alvr` package on the AUR has been orphaned and has fallen victim to an infostealer malware attack.

If you have this installed on any machine it is advised that you disconnect it from networking and attempt to invalidate or rotate any keys or passwords on the box that may have been shipped back to homebase.

ALVR itself and the `alvr-bin` package appear safe for distribution, but specific to Arch Linux and other distros like endeavor and cachyOS, the from source ALVR package named exactly `alvr` has been compromised.

If you would like to help dissect any of the malware you may report to the #alvr channel to assist so we can understand the scope of the damage.

Again, the ALVR project itself is fine and this is strictly limited to Arch based consumers of the AUR package, never forget there's dangers to the AUR.

@CursedSilicon@social.treehouse.systems oh that's incredible, I'm all-linux-all-the-time, so that's not an issue, but it was VERY odd trying to debug why some sites worked and not others

@CursedSilicon@social.treehouse.systems we were probably the only household in Australia to ONLY have ipv6, no NAT64, just ipv6.

@CursedSilicon@social.treehouse.systems I mean, when I asked my last ISP to give us a static ipv4 they somehow _disabled our ipv4 service_

can anyone guess what's pissing me off today

A version of the "30 to 40 olives" meme. There is text in varying sizes that reads "want to save on costs? need CMOS power, but battery holders are expensive? try soldering a CR2032 to the PCB". Below the text is an image of a circuit board with a CR2032 coin battery soldered onto it via small metal tabs. On top of the image, there is text that reads "just fucking stick it on there" and "good luck getting those tabs off, fuckshit". Below the image is small text: "you will certainly not regret soldering a CR2032 to the PCB".

Strange question, does #Delonghi still have a good reputation? My understanding is that they (at least used to be) pretty good? I have had a TERRIBLE experience with my #EC885M #coffee machine, (already had it repaired twice) I'm unsure if I was just super unlucky, or if Delonghi is no longer […]

My son bought a second-hand Windows 11 PC for games, and has been having BSOD issues with the graphics card since he got it. Out of desperation he tried installing Bazzite on it, which I encouraged, but was also trying not to get his hopes up, telling him that the some things might not work. But […]

Was this with fully-closed Nvidia or with the new(er) open source kernel modules? (Nvidia-open) Fully closed source is fully broken, but open kernel modules fixes a lot of weirdness with Nvidia, and the fully closed stack is deprecated now anyway

@CursedSilicon@social.restless.systems This is actually a Nvidia issue! Nvidia refuses to implement VA-API in their drivers, so we have issues like this... There is this unofficial driver that is a very hacky solution to the problem, and it kinda works... I guess... It takes a non-zero amount of […]
