1st snake sighting of the year was a bit of a rollercoaster. Flailing wings in the paddock and I instantly thought oh god bird flu alert. Nope - 2 wedgetail eagles - fighting off multiple attacking magpies, whilst trying to carry off a bloody big snake.

Keep your fingers crossed for our dearest little 15 year old Shirley. Inoperable bladder cancer. We've got meds to ease the symptoms, and some serious spoiling planned to ease the wait. We've had Laverne & Shirley with us for 6 or so years now. They have made our lives immeasurably better.

VicRoads have scattered a few 'rough surface' & 'traffic hazard' signs along the Sunraysia between Avoca & Ballarat which are frankly useless. Finding that little bit of drivable asphalt amongst the potholes with a bloody big grain truck up your arse is not for the faint hearted 1/2

We have ourselves a midnight galloper. Ender used to be a 6am galloper but this one... middle of the night it sounds like the house is under attack from a JCB! (All cats / birds in lockdown - reports of non-confirmed bird flu deaths all around now).

After a valiant fight against old age and various ailments, we said goodbye to the last of the sisters on Friday. The one with the white muddy face. Loved you Lillie & Billie who died a couple of years ago. You made us laugh, drove us insane and always kept us on our toes. So quiet now without you.
