About 10 years ago, or so, Google gave great search results. Now it tends to be a mishmash of everything I'm no looking for, and it's a miracle if I find something relevant. It started with SEO and is only devolving with AI.

My mom enjoyed playing with the scammers who claimed to be her "favorite grandson." She doesn't have any grandkids.

Apparently Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli are my cousins. I have unusual first and middle names, often mispronounced, and my mom used to make up new lyrics to "Liza with a Z" like that would help me laugh it off.

I've been quiet lately because my mother's mind is going downhill. She's in a home, which is the only way my husband and I can clean out her house. She wouldn't even let me throw out empty food packaging. We're all miserable in the situation.

I finally saw The Mandalorian and Grogu on Friday. Only a handful of people were in the theater for the 1:00 p.m. matinee (and I qualified for the senior discount!) which is why I waited. I enjoyed…

One of the first creatures I photographed yesterday at Brandon Marsh was this brilliant Batman #Hoverfly. Not a crime-fighter but a pollinator, so still a superhero! Can you see how this species got its name? #SmallWonders #Nature #Wildlife #Insects #NaturePhotography #MacroPhotography #UKWildlife 🌿
A Batman Hoverfly (Myathropa florea). This is a harmless type of Fly rather than a stinging Wasp, but the black and yellow stripes on the tail or abdomen may trick potential predators into leaving well alone! The top of the thorax is whitish rather than yellow, but it also has black stripes or bands across its width - the last one of the three looks a little like the shape of a bat with outstretched wings, hence the common name for this species. In this pic, the Hoverfly is perched on flower-heads which each bear many small white flowers on thin, white stalks. Photographed 9 August 2025 at Brandon Marsh, Warwickshire, England.

Within minutes, I realized the product placement was part of the joke. Listening to the commentary later - they had to pay all those companies for licensing. The music is brilliant and is so reflective of the story, it could be considered a musical. So, so funny and such great satire.

"Josie and the Pussycats" was widely misunderstood. The first time I saw it was on cable, it had started a few minutes before I turned it on, and I didn't even intend to watch it. The product placement (Krispy Kreme in the kitchen) caught my eye and was so blatant, I couldn't turn away, BUT...

Following the Leaves: What I Learned from Unexpected Ancestry Hints
Have you ever noticed an Ancestry hint for someone who isn't actually mentioned in the record? While reviewing hints for my great-great-grandparents, I came across three Civil War–related hints that puzzled me. These records were being suggested for Mary Foster Crawford, the wife of Washington Marion Crawford. At first, I thought they might include a reference to Mary — perhaps as a widow or family contact.
