There's a bevy of posts circulating of famous sculptures with the question of WHY DON'T WE SEE THIS KIND OF TALENT ANYMORE and the answer is you don't support the arts, assholes. Those artists had patrons. They could work all day to perfect their craft without worrying about food and housing.

Indigenous people always have a plight. These framings are dangerous because of where they locate the problem. We're the ones who need to be fixed or helped or saved. That shapes the solution, which makes everyone else mad. It gets perceived (and talked about) like special treatment.

I just met 2 settler artist/professors at a Native art workshop-it immediately cured my sense of artistic imposter syndrome It’s so easy to walk into Native spaces the right way, but it seems like they refuse to even try It’s so upsetting seeing them take this knowledge without care for protocols
