There are cats to collect? 👀 then I definitely have to check it out! I'm currently waiting for my new PC to arrive and then I have to decide on what to play next cause I've also been eyeing Blood of Dawnwalker since Gamescom 🙈

Nice campaign by the Norwegian Consumer Council about the declining lifespan of products. Enjoy!

No but I tested it out at Gamescom (well, the new DLC)! Hadn't heard of it before but I'm definitely interested now :)

Oh nice 👀 the last game didn't really hook me so I was a bit scared for this one but I'm excited for it!

I'm afraid to look up reviews for the new Fire Emblem, that's the other game I was looking forward to. I can't handle a month full of releases that hurt me

Literally why do cats love plastic so much? One of mine goes feral for it 😭

Audrey Martin ⚔️📚🌈 @audreywrites.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Disclosure that I haven't actually played it but I'm not spending 70€ for something that looks so mid. I was already annoyed at Spider-Man 2 that it barely let you lose & the game kept holding your hand like a baby, and I'm just tired of this trend in big budget games. Please just let me struggle 😭

Every time I get slightly excited for a big budget video game, they break my heart and I just keep feeling like a clown for daring to hope for a good game (This is about Wolverine. I really wanted to play a good Wolverine game 😔)

I have discovered the joy of annotating ebooks with every little thought and theory that crosses my mind, I even have the hope that I'll maybe stop forgetting the plot 2 months after I've read it if I comment on it. Now the problem is that I consume most books through audio...

Now that we're driving more towards Köln there's more -dorfs but I feel like further south they were drowned out by all the -heims and -bergs

000

Audrey Martin ⚔️📚🌈 @audreywrites.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

We drove past Mannheim a while ago and when you think about it that's just a city named after some guy's home. We don't even know the guy, it's just a random guy. Don't ever spend too much time or energy on your fantasy city names, we are entirely overdoing it as writers

030

Audrey Martin ⚔️📚🌈 @audreywrites.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Maybe the -dorfs are just not big enough to be on the highway signs 😔😔😔

Genuinely every second town is something-heim. And if it's not -heim it's -berg with the occasional -stadt

Driving through western Germany has made me realize one very big mistake fantasy worldbuilders make and that is not having 50 towns on your map with the exact same suffix

I feel like I'm doing something wrong cause it especially feels like I'm blasting things into the void here (that's why I stopped) 🙃 on IG at least my irl friends like my posts, even if nothing helps getting the posts out of my bubble. But I feel like maybe time zones are the problem 😅

video games are cool. i cant believe we harnessed lightning and crystals and metals and used those to make machines that let us make little interactive stories where you can be little guys and hang out with your friends from thousands of miles away.

(Also gay 👀 how truly gay it'll end up being, we'll have to see, but I'm used to that with anime) I've wished for a female version of the standard heart-of-gold, incredibly passionate, not the brightest shonen protagonist for so long and finally Mio exists <3 I love her so much

Audrey Martin ⚔️📚🌈 @audreywrites.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

If you like shonen & sports anime shenanigans but wish there were more girls in it, I very highly recommend Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games! As you may have guessed from the title, it's about girls playing fighting games (specifically street fighter 6) and it is so incredibly fun!

They sound so miserable 😭😭 I much prefer fantasy inns 😔 and I saw a video recently explaining the difference between inns, taverns & alehouses and how they had to stay separate because of tax purposes and I also refuse that 😤 my inn has beds & a tavern & sells drinks! Fuck historical accuracy!

120

Audrey Martin ⚔️📚🌈 @audreywrites.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

There's only one bed but also three other people in it who want to sleep and might kick you out if you annoy them too much

010

Audrey Martin ⚔️📚🌈 @audreywrites.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

I know that historically inns used to put multiple strangers into one bed but I can't get myself to add that to my books. I don't mind trying to make stuff more historically accurate but I'm not putting my blorbos in bed with some strangers 😭 how would you even fall asleep?? I would hate it so much

I can't keep rewriting the same book over and over, even if I'm not happy anymore with some of the sentences. At some point I need to be done with this series so I can start something new...

I've been rereading book 1 (& eventually book 2) of my series to take notes on everything I've already mentioned so I don't fuck anything up for the rest of the series & I should have done this right after the books' release cause now I want to change stuff about it even though I really shouldn't 😬

I'm currently reading Butler's Parable of the Sower which is a phenomenal book but it's also a story set in our current years about climate change having devastated the lands & everyone fighting for water and ressources and maybe that hits a bit too close to home with the summer we're having atm...

I think what I'm missing is a tag system for posts so you can mute tags & also a feed just for pictures, that's probably why I'm on here so little even though there are some cool people here 😔 It's just so much text, I miss the cool art in between

out now: my Beauty & the Beast-inspired queer cozy horror THE LORD OF THE WOOD to celebrate, here are some highlights from a bookish photo shoot I did yesterday! paperback or ebook: bookshop.org/p/books/the-... audiobook: libro.fm/audiobooks/9...

A white person's hand holds up a paperback of E.M. Anderson's The Lord of the Wood in front of a clear, shallow stream running through a green forest. The book's cover is blue, paler in the center, darker at the edges, with a central image of a stag of foliage and flowers growing from a tree whose upper branches drip black ooze and the tagline, "Even a beastly woodland protector needs saving..." This book is featured in all the remaining images.

A paperback of E.M. Anderson's The Lord of the Wood standing on a small rock, leaning against a larger rock behind it, in the middle of a clear, shallow stream with light glancing off the water.

A closeup of underripe bright red aggregate berries on a twig, with a paperback of E.M. Anderson's The Lord of the Wood gently blurred lying on the grass below.
