Wordy, or Word·y, or WORD·Y (I haven't quite decided)... Anyway, it's a word puzzle game I recently created. Still in beta, I would love some feedback. One word. Three connections. Find them all to solve the Y. #Wordy #WordGames

2025: A WordPress plug-in accidentally pushes something to live - the chair of a national institution resigns OpenAI intentionally release products to a mass market that includes errors, manipulations and stolen material - cool, cool Is this how it works? www.theguardian.com/business/202...
The report found that the OBR had uploaded its budget documents to a link which it believed to be inaccessible to the public. However, because the organisation was using a particular add-on to the WordPress publishing system, the link ended up being live, unbeknownst to the OBR itself.

This is well worth reading on the human labour involved in reinforcement learning
DeepSeek’s latest model is completely reliant on these data
workers, despite the company’s emphasis on “reinforcement
learning”. Unlike supervised learning, which follows an ex
ante approach—training models with pre-tagged data before
deployment—reinforcement learning works ex post, correcting
outputs through rewards and penalties. In theory, this reduces
the need for data workers.
In practice, however, reinforcement learning neither
revolutionizes AI training nor significantly cuts labor costs.
While it may lessen dependence on pre-labeled datasets, it
still requires human oversight, as annotators must provide
feedback on model outputs. Even when users casually upvote
or downvote a chatbot’s response, they unknowingly
contribute to this process—unpaid and uncredited.
DeepSeek may promise labor-saving automation, but, like all
AI models, it runs on human toil.

Great to see this out in the open. Dropping AI pilots isn't a bad thing. It underscores the importance of testing new tech before rolling them out. Particularly in welfare, where the risks of amplifying inequalities and causing real world harm are significant. But... (1/5) tinyurl.com/6tn2r24x

This was my concern after seeing the trailers/reviews. I suspect they thought of the title first. There are more interesting/niche defined numbers. Perfect numbers are ripe for "The Perfect Crime". Or Mersenne primes — "The Mersenne-ary"? There must be others.

Hard to believe it's 2025 and I still come across digital developers and agencies seemingly unfamiliar with WCAG guidelines or even general accessibility principals.

2025 is … a perfect square 45 x 45 = 2025.   a sum of cubes: 1³ + 2³ + 3³ + ... + 9³ = 2025 a perfect square when you add 1 to each digit: 3136 = 56² a perfect square when you increase the first digit by 1: 3025 = 55² Maybe the only number with all these properties

@schreiberland.bsky.social I'm seeking a reference for the conspiracy theory that the Titanic sank due to too many time travellers, but all I can find are ones about Jack Dawson from the movie being a time traveller. Am I remembering correctly that you mentioned the former theory in a past Fish?

It's not right to take a hard line on "genAI wrote your application" because, as @jiggott.bsky.social and others note in this thread, any potential "tells" are phrases that a real person may actively choose to use. You can't dismiss an application on that basis alone.

Just a reminder that there is absolutely no imperative to follow loads of terrible people who make you feel sad so you get a rounded view of things. Terrible people are likely to be *more terrible* if they also think they are popular.
