Nondrivers need and deserve mobility that lets us fully participate in our lives and communities. That includes access to recreation. #WeekWithoutDriving

First of all, never need anything. Second, accept that they are giving you what you asked for. If it's not what you wanted, it's your fault. You asked wrong. Apologize and talk better this time. The offense is not interrupting, it's suggesting they did something wrong.

Turned on the #presidentscup while it was "Playing Through" and I finished an entire bowl of cereal before they got back to the actual broadcast. Saw four putts & it was back to commercials. Yuck.

We know that mobility in cities is about space. More specifically, more trips in less space. We’ve seen lots of great images reinforcing that point. This one might be my favourite, from #Santiago, because it ALSO shows the inequality of having buses run in mixed traffic. Dedicated bus-only lanes.
Side-by-side comparison of a Santiago Street, on the left with vehicles, and on the right with the people they carry, showing how much space single occupancy cars take up on our streets in cities. Noteworthy is a cluster of people in the middle where the full bus is sitting stuck in traffic among all those cars with just one person each in them.

I would think the opposite. To me, low-key suggests a race that aligns with national & state trends, which presumably is good for the Democrat. Or am I misunderstanding?

In my experience, there's not a lot of evidence that getting kids into local public preschool means they'll continue to local public elementary. Once it's free, patents often choose the school that makes them feel like good parents.

I was at a parade today and obvs there were political campaigns. One Republican campaign had a guy calling out "Vote [candidate] for more freedom!" Republicans offer diminished access, fewer choices, more restrictions (unless you're a rich, white man). Less freedom. People see this, right?

Jaywalking a completely American construct, based on industry lobbying, which doesn't exist in law in UK. We are free to run into traffic wherever we like (except motorways). But pedestrian casualties are lower here because drivers have to take responsibility.

In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

Contrary to what the sign reads, this road is actually open to pedestrians today and will be hopping tonight as part of Burnsville Festival. #openstreets (No idea why there's a Hastings police trailer in Burnsville.)
a sign reads "road closed" with a mostly empty street behind it

Oof. That's rough. We did OK ... the plants grew like crazy, but limited fruit. In any case, quite a shock compared to last year when we gave away dozens of tomatoes and still had more than we could eat ourselves.

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invested €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear— it WASTES public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT @modacitylife.com

The strongest proof of success is what happened after Plante left office. Despite the election of a successor critical of pedestrian streets, they're being institutionalised. A policy easy to attack in theory becomes much harder to dismantle once residents, merchants, and visitors live its benefits.

This is an example of the privatization of social problems & the burden of individualism. This is neoliberalism, creating serious problems & strapping responsibility for fixing them on individuals. This is what I wrote my new book, Personal Responsibility, Inc. about.

Voting for a performative centrist (especially in a primary) for electability reasons is it's own form of performative centrism, so this person is glad that voters soundly rejected them, too. And so am I, I guess.
