this is the graphics for the worm/snake parts that Jan designed. I still love them

WORM.BAS was my favorite game. It was written by www.unixpapa.com Jan Wolter, who had written it as port of unix SNAKE but with better graphics. Jan died in 2015.

the fun part is it didn't distinguish graphics mode from text mode. so you'd be in DOS and could have lines and charts and stuff overlayed on top. And you could reprogram the ASCII characters on the fly to make a sort of sprite set

it ran on the Zenith Z-100, which was a weird little box with a built-in screen, ran a version of DOS wasn't quite PC compatible, but did have an Intel 8088 chip like a PC has

the others moons fell out naturally once i had: 1. court cards mapped to element-of-element via Golden Dawn 2. element-of-element mapped to geomantic figures via @polyphanes.bsky.social ‘s blog 3. geomantic figures mapped to planets and directions via tradition 4. planets in Chaldean order

I’m glad you asked! the 12 Tidal Gua have a traditional mapping to the ecliptic, which is offset exactly half a sign from the zodiac (they’re _centered_ on the solstices, instead of _starting_ on a solstice) part of my goal is to show how systems fail to tidily fit together

I had a huge fucking crisis about which of the 16 moon phases were gonna go on which end of the dragon. I made a judgement call. (pls disagree)

I didn’t have a way to get sound replication praxis out of the speely but I was able to down-convert to farspark, extract the noise stream, then upconvert back to speely >.<

I also had it kinda mixed up with the Goya painting, which I must have learned about in college, which was itself taught with the mistranslation “The *dream* of reason produces monsters”

it’s kind of remarkably hard to track down the providence of this exact image, which comes from wikipedia, but it seems to be a modern-ish redrawing of a genre of chart that appeared in propaganda for the Technocracy movement in the 1930s
