We didn't send in any CRiT Award acceptance videos like we were supposed to, because I *truly* didn't think we could win anything. But here's what I told my Facebook friends back when we were nominated.

"In decades of making theatre I never won or was up for an award, but I got to give them out when I ran Fresh Fruit Festival, and it was always moving to remember that it mattered to people, being seen and appreciated. Having strangers announce, "All this work you've done, we're glad, you were right, keep going."

This community, this weird art, keeps finding ways to let me know that. And I keep being surprised and overwhelmed when I want something really bad...and get it.
