Something lovely for the weekend! A very good boy! 🐾🐕😍 An amazing c. 3,400 year-old ancient Egyptian dog carved from ivory. This leaping hunting dog opens and closes its mouth, as if barking, by using a lever below its chest. 📷 by me #Archaeology

Ancient Egyptian ivory sculpture of a leaping dog. The ivory is now biscuit coloured. Dimensions: 18.2 cm (L) × 6.1 cm (H) × 3.6 cm (W) A lever under the dog’s chest opens and closes the mouth. The inside of the mouth is red. The eyes are outlined in black. Dated Late Dynasty I8, I400-I350 BC.

A fellow author got told not to promote her own books on bsky. So let's go over this: 1. Don't enjoy someone's posts? Don't expect them to cater to you. Move on. 2. Fantasy/horror readers: Check out @bookspotlight.bsky.social's books Bailuchien & These Violent Nights. 2 of my fav reads this year.

Simply for the vibes!!! better to do it all in one go at the end anyway than to have multiple different ones all in use simultaneously and confuse yourself on reread 😅😅

YOU GUYS 😳

Text from a warriors book (about a society of cats that live wild in a forest) “"ShadowClan has the favor of Star Clan," Tigerstar swept on, ignoring the interruption. "We are blessed because we survived the sickness, and I have received the blessing of our warrior ancestors most of all because it was my task to restore the Clan and make it great again."”

I have a bad case of the craft hops right now, so please enjoy my beaded spider for my best friend’s winter solstice gift. It will eventually be turned into a pin or brooch I think… not sure yet. I’ve never done bead embroidery before this but I’m hooked.

A white person’s hand holding a small plastic embroidery hoop with white linen stretched in it. An artistic rendition of a spider is stitched on the cloth, made from an assortment of purple, bronze, and gold seed beads with bits of silver wire poking through.

so my partner of 8.5 years and I are no longer together and while it is mutual and on good terms and all I. Still don’t know what to do with that. I am trying to be brave about it, by which I mean I’m consuming 3 forms of media simultaneously and learning a craft so I don’t have to think.

There are some Russian rock operas based (albeit with no respect for endorsement by the Tolkien estate) on some of the Legendarium! Finrod from 2001 and then a handful of others more recently! Might be worth a look to combine those interests 🥰

I'm not in an echo chamber. I'm singing with the choir. Each of our lives and experiences bring harmony and joy to the songs of our lives. And the best part about a choir? People can rest as needed and the song remains.
