I have this theory (fear?) that I might secretly be a lolcow in Japan, because of this one Riichi Mahjong stream I did in January. It's one of my most viewed things ever and it consistently gets more and more attention over time. It is otherwise unremarkable, but I must have done something wrong.

In trying to make a good thumbnail for RE4, I have come to the opinion that all official box-art for that game is flawed on one way or another. Like, it works, in terms of the renders being cool compositions, but that logo is so difficult to place anywhere on that image without fucking it up.

I think I need a setting that lets me filter reviews by word count, at this point. I'm all for quips and jokes, but at some point, I find myself scrolling down a list of reviews and it's all one-liners and boot licking. Hot takes and impulse opinions. Fucking exhausting.

Recently found a textbook that has so far been a pretty effective self-teaching tool for Japanese Kanji. It teaches you a few with a low stroke count to start, then expands on them by showing you some where that simple shape acts as a radical in a more complex kanji. An example would be: 日→月→明

Saw someone play some of the demo for for Way of the Sword, just to get an impression, and it's kind of neat how the Oni Gauntlet has kintsugi'd the wounds on Musashi's body. Both a bit of body horror and pretty at the same time. Always imagined those things were grafted on.

I decided that the next thing I want to tackle is RE2. Probably because of all the Paul W.S. Anderson movies I've been watching. Made me want to go play RE5 & 6, but I've only beaten the original, so now it's RE2's turn. Playing the DualShock 2 version for the latest tat, but using d-pad.

Started Onimusha 3: An immediate improvement in almost every regard, when compared to the previous title. Clearly a higher budget affair with its full 3D backgrounds and Jean Reno being featured predominantly throughout. The tone is a bit wacky (and that's putting it lightly), but I'm excited.

I found a copy of the original 2004 run of To Catch a Predator with Chris Hansen, after Primetime piqued my interest in what the actual show was like. What's really strikes me is how there's a vigilante group, featuring a 23 y/o woman, who has to endure dozens of phone calls pretending to be 14.

I've immediately leapt onto Onimusha 2 - Samurai's Destiny, which I played today for roughly 4 hours. It feels very similar mechanically, but notably less "Sengoku Biohazard," and much more it's own thing now. The visuals and the presentation have been upgraded, but the English dub is somehow worse.

I'm having fun writing FON for the first time in a while. The next chapter is one I've been thinking of for quite some time, so it's got fundamental stuff for the narrative in it, which make me giddy with excitement. The art I've been working on for it is also really coming out good. Hot stuff.

I just played about three or so hours of Onimusha: Warlords, and that game is pretty tight. Two of those hour may or may not have been me just fighting enemies over and over, until I figure out the inputs and timings for what I call a "sick-ass instakill parry" (scientific name). Will play more.

I know I'm in my honeymoon phase with Zero Parades right now, but I genuinely love the game so much. It is a tragedy, what happened to it. I can't stand that many of the developers lost their jobs, because someone over at ZA/UM admin had to shoot themselves in the foot several times over.
