Hello 👋 I fell into a magical portal and the fairies said "no social media for you, not until you finish some paintings". I painted the hallway and the 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️ were so irate they threw books at me. Quite a lot of books. So I ordered a large bookcase. I finally relented ... #art #artjournal #alteredbook

An art journal conjured from an old children's book. The children have long since grown ... into crones who paint in books. The artist's hand is holding up this book like a precious artefact from the tomb ... revealing a mystical blue book cover with collaged elements that surely mean something? A real feather, white crow, eclipse illustration, music sheet, dictionary text for "bewilder, bewilderment, bewitch, bewray", a LOT of phthalo blue, and the words "Life Opened".

There are signs that the artist collects treasure like a crow. Or crone.

I am reawakening the socials like a hibiscus blooming in winter. Before anyone tells me it is not winter. I live in Australia. And yes, the hibiscus blooms improbably. Things GROW here in winter. Summer is the death season. So I grow. I've been tending a THING. It is still in bud ... slow bloom 🌸

Hibiscus flower plucked from the garden this winter, and added to my eclectic decor styling of miniature teapots, candles, statues and ... of course ... a painting. The proud bloom is displayed in a curious violet and white striped blown glass vase sitting on top of a polished slice of a geode. Don't ask why, I don't know. These things find me. The geode coaster was abandoned by the previous owner of my house, who for some reason put it in the pool shed. The remainder - things people gift me when they declutter their house or my adventures into the charity store for treasures. Wooden candlesticks - improbable but true. I like improbable truths. Like tropical blooms in a temperate winter.

Work in spiral progress. Tinkering a paintover, and my daughter "Why are you ruining my favourite painting?😡" ... so it spirals back to the old story ... and you can not step in the same river twice, but you can run upstream and catch a leaf. And she was right. #intuitiveart #artyear #painting

The mother wears a shawl and is surrounded by drooping sunflower like plants, symbolising harvest time and maturing into legacy, while the daughter is close, seeking connection to her lineage - the passing of the seeds to the next generation.

Finding quiet amidst the cacophony. I finally found time for arting and fixed an #artjournal spread that went awry ... in 2013. There was so much cacophony, I couldn't spell cacophony. Less cacophony now. Amended my signature to just Lynda - no more family names claiming me in my #art. #artyear

I do not need any more books or picture frames, and yet ... I have an obsession with velvet and the colour purple, so when I saw a $2 frame at the charity store with purple velvet 💜 Also, if the internet goes down, I have a library to keep me amused and educated for 100 years. #books #thrifting

I've been avoiding painting, so last Sunday I went in my arty studio and said "you will paint". After about 5hrs of rearranging paint brushes and paints, browsing art books, starting up a painting class video, journaling about not painting, a nausea spinning panic attack ... painted. #artyear
