Harvest colors in Oregon wine country are a mix of orange, purple, and gold. This painting was inspired by this year's fall colors in Domaine Serene's vineyards in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Thick brushstrokes of oil paint laid side-by-side create a stained-glass effect of golden hour light coming through the leaves.

On Montmartre’s edge (1886–87), Van Gogh painted windmills, gardens, and stone quarries. These threshold spaces where city chaos met rural calm, mirrored his struggle to balance speed with structure.

Was Eleanor Roosevelt the most influential woman on U.S. history? There would a far, far lesser FDR in history books without her 'influence.' Anyone topping her, on par?

Dalí fled Europe for the United States amid the outbreak of World War II. The Face of War (1940), completed in California, vividly embodies the era's horrors through its recursive, skull-like imagery.

Hopper portrayed the “horror house” before Hollywood. House by the Railroad (1925) freezes a mansion in suspense—a lonely home becomes ominous, American suburbia turns into a nightmare. Years later, it inspired Hitchcock’s famous film Psycho.

Dalí’s imagery became bleaker as the threat of war loomed over Europe in the late-1930s. The Burning Giraffe (1937) sets its figures in a stage-like space, with crutches and exposed openings turning the bodies into objects that appear precarious and engineered.

"Bathers," Philip Henry Surrey, watercolor, 23.25 x 17.5", private collection. Philip Henry Surrey (1910 - 1990) was a Canadian artist. #NudeArt #Naturism #NonSexualNudity
A painting of four nude figures, two females and two males, on a beach. They are walking toward the left to enter the water. They all have tan lines (a.k.a. cottontails), so they must not be regular nudists. You can see a pentimento where the artist drew the figures in other positions.

Bare Tree behind a Fence, 1912 botfrens.com/collections/88/content…
This painting by Egon Schiele, 'Bare Tree behind a Fence,' captures the stark, expressive lines of a leafless tree against a textured, muted background, illustrating Schiele's characteristic exploration of isolation and desolation. The bold, contrasting brushstrokes highlight the ominous barrier of the fence, adding depth and tension to the barren landscape.
