watched a bit of someone playing the demo for the new Castlevania and I think the thing that makes it clear that this is more of a modern Metroidvania than an "Igavania" is that the boss actually killed them several times lmao

(technically, PCB takes place in spring, but, uh. well that's the entire problem really isn't it)

IN's actually autumn, surprisingly. it doesn't put it forward like MoF does but you can tell from the name of Wriggle's theme. (Why there's a firefly out in autumn is anyone's guess.) PoFV is spring though, so all four seasons are covered by those first four Windows games.

haven't played it myself so this is secondhand, but as far as I'm aware it's excellent ports of all three DS games, and Haunted Castle Revisited is a really cool bonus (plus you can experience original Haunted Castle, which is a very funny game)

alright, time to hit the Steam wishlist and assess the likely damage honestly the Pink Sweets/Muchi Muchi Pork pack might end up being the wallet damage I take rather than games on sale, but we'll see

if I were to speculate even more, it's possible that both of them eventually had a major project outside of SEGA crash and burn because their publisher wasn't giving them all that leeway (not to say NetEase definitely shoulders no blame in Gang of Dragon's case, considering other shit they pulled)

i am thinking again about Asbel's level 2 super in Tales of Graces, which to this day is still the sickest jrpg super animation i've ever seen. and it's so SNAPPY, too, you are in and they're dead and you're back to normal gameplay in just six seconds!! just endlessly impressive work

my theory is that the commonality between Naka and Nagoshi as SEGA's Legendary Assholes is that they were integral to legitimately excellent, important, groundbreaking, and extremely profitable games, and from that they gained carte blanche to do whatever they wanted forever

in terms of what he worked on his career is genuinely extremely impressive, so it's a shame he ended up being Like That

110

K'eeg @armormodekeeg.blacksky.app · 5h

he was around since the early 90's, and his degree in movie production actually came in handy in SEGA's early forays into 3D in arcade games most notably he was the director of Daytona USA, one of the highest-grossing arcade games ever, so I'm guessing the suits liked him a lot after that lol
