Exited to share our new preprint! here we explore how littoral CH4 moves from sediment production → sediment/water → water accumulation, and how temperature, CH4 oxidation & transport shape this pathway, led by the fantastic Karla Martinez-Cruz! egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/20...

From sedimentary production to water-column accumulation: temperature and spatial controls on littoral methane
Abstract. Littoral sediments are important sources of methane (CH4) to lake water, but it remains unclear how strongly sedimentary CH4 production controls sediment-water fluxes and dissolved CH4 conce...

Was fun to be one of approximately a million authors contributing data to this cool dataset. Unsurprisingly, much of my data was from forest ditches 😆

Happy to be part of this great community effort! ABCFlux v2 brings together CO2 & CH4 observations from 1,000+ Arctic–boreal terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, providing a unique resource to understand carbon cycling in a changing climate essd.copernicus.org/articles/18/...

ABCFlux v2: Arctic–boreal CO2 and CH4 monthly flux observations and ancillary information across terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems
Abstract. Measurements of surface-atmosphere carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) fluxes have been relatively sparse across the Arctic tundra and boreal biomes, causing significant uncertainties in ...

What is the point of doing a review of a paper if the editor’s decision appears to be driven by another reviewer who provided only a poor few lines? It becomes unclear what is expected from me in the 2nd round of review. I could rejected again, but it is unfair to the authors, who have revised it 😣.

We are starting the installation of flux chambers as part of the project ANK 8.5, marking the beginning of the sampling campaigns aimed at estimating carbon removal from the atmosphere in floodplains where Nature-based Solutions are applied across Germany!

It has taken more than two years (plus all the years data contributors have spent on their data collection), but finally our data descriptor manuscript preprint on Arctic-boreal carbon fluxes across terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems is out: essd.copernicus.org/preprints/es... Go have a look!

Emergence of a Resource Acquisition Trade‐off at the Community Scale during Environmental Change
A four-decadal cycle of eutrophication and subsequent re-oligotrophication in Lake Constance led to the emergence of a strong trade-off between phosphate and light affinity. We derive an explanation ...

Finally completely deactivated my account in the other place. It was hard to let go - it led to great interactions, research collaboration, attending the best conference ever, and to top it all, my current job. But with what is going on in the US, no other choice. Hoping to find everyone here!
Location of the amazing Biocrust4 conference on North Stradbroke Island, Australia. Beach looking towards the sea at sunset, some trees on the left. Low waves in the sea, some clouds on the sky.

We’re back from India! It was a great experience in the field, and I believe we gathered excellent data while fostering valuable collaborations. I also take with me the memories of the amazing people I met and the incredible food!

We are in our last week in India, we got nice spots of ecosystems to measure CH4 and CO2, now we need to process individual flux sources and work with the remote sensig and their idea to use PRISMA, EnMAP and Carbon Mapper!!!!
