There is absolutely fucking NOTHING that points you even remotely in the direction you're supposed to go. So good luck finding which of the bazillion dungeons contains your vampire brethren, you won't know until you find out. And then you find them and they don't even like you. I love Morrowind.

Except, it kinda does and kinda doesn't. There are books you can read to at least figure out which clan you're seeking, but you have to deduce that for yourself. One clan is sneaky, one is magicky, and the other one is brawny. So look at your stats and see which are now stronger compared to before.

Not so fast! You can only join the clan that the vampire who sired you belonged to (tough luck if it was a clanless vampire which the game also has!). How do you know which clan you can join? The game doesn't tell you. Where to find your clan? The game doesn't tell you!

But in Morrowind, once you turn, everyone clocks you as a vampire on sight and they mostly either refuse to speak to you or try to kill you. So going to settlements is a bad idea. Luckily, there are a whopping three vampire clans you can join, and each has two unique quests. Sounds fun and simple!

See, in Skyrim (with Dawnguard DLC), you're practically railroaded into either becoming a vampire or rejecting vampirism and joining the vampire hunters. The DLC even removes the ability of the NPCs to recognize you as a vampire if you hadn't fed for several days. Not even with your glowing eyes.

requires a Calm Humanoid spell to even talk to (and the game never tells you he's a trainer of any sort so you have no way of telling who this random wizard fighting you is!), but I believe that the way Morrowind treats vampirism is just about the biggest "fuck you, figure it out somehow" in gaming.

I *almost* started playing Morrowind again before realizing just how much modern gaming has ruined my perceptions of what is and isn't unnecessarily inconvenient. Also, early 3D makes my eyes bleed. It's still definitely the best TES game imo. Just not one I can actually enjoy anymore!
