to be clear, this is referring to examples like using suno (sue suno) and elevenlabs to generate vocals. i despise those in particular and would never use these in my music (*maybe* unless i was explicitly making fun of them) synth-v folks have my heart, and you've been here *long* before "genAI"

i really miss when artists could just say "yeah you can totally do this thing too, just go out there, learn, and practice" and there wasn't this awkward stick of "oR jUsT uSe Ai" jammed into the gears. most of us do this because we love it. because it's fun. genAI is *not fun* to us.

"how did you do [mildly difficult creative thing]? did you use AI?" i'm sure most folks asking this question are genuine and mean nothing by it, but this is a really hurtful thing for most artists to hear. no. we don't use AI. we do the difficult thing, by hand, for the love of the game.
