It's not a coincidence that this draconian ruling will affect a city that is more than 80 percent Black.

You don't have a right to safe drinking water, US court rules
A Trump-appointed judge also said Americans have no “constitutional right to truthful information” during a public health crisis.

I just ate absolute shit in front of the Ariana Grande concert I couldn't get tickets to, becoming the first woman in history to add injury to insult.

My latest. I’ve been watching the media coverage of the murders of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer. One way media can fight back against male violence: If you kill your wife, you don’t get to be called a “husband” any more. You’re her killer. open.substack.com/pub/karenatt...

Arresting Black journalists is also vice signaling. Their base is racist and hates journalists and they want to get them excited again. The mainstream media industry has never protected Black journalists or journalists of color the way it should.

You don’t need to care about celebrity news. But what you should know is that right-wing content creators have built a viral online pipeline that directs pop culture consumers—especially women—from celeb gossip to conservative news and commentary. spitfirenews.com/p/brooklyn-b...

I keep thinking about how a young woman DoorDash driver was charged and hauled into court for recording and posting evidence of her customer sexually harassing her, while nothing is happening to the droves of men using Grok to sexually harass women and children. The institutions are pro-perpetrator.

2. Trans Health Care “Skeptics” Lost a Key Ally—Now They’re Having a Meltdown / Henry Carnell

Gordon Guyatt is known as the “godfather” of evidence-based medicine. He came out against its use to deprive trans youth of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones this year, causing a crisis among anti-trans activists.

Meticulously reported and fair, but without giving undue weight to the conspiracy theories and pseudoscience of anti-trans activists, this story by Henry Carnell of Mother Jones is among the best science writing of the year, as well as the best trans journalism.

Last year, we wrote about survivor Taylor Cadle. When she was 12, she told police she’d been raped. They said she was lying and charged her with false reporting. She then took the extraordinary measure of recording the next act of abuse. Now, Taylor has legal counsel and filed a lawsuit.

I think there should generally be more grace given to journalists for errors, as some can come as a result of brain fog related to chronic illness etc. But, when it comes to mistakes that promote transphobia, racism etc, I feel like most publications underreact to that.
