A) The grandson of a merchant seaman, I was brought up on the edge of Leeds’ most multicultural and deprived area, and attended an inner city comprehensive school B) I was brought up in a quiet North Leeds suburb and attended one of the city’s highest regarded Grammar schools, before University.
