When Obama came here in 2015, AF1 landed at the Grayson County Airport (between Denison and Pottsboro, TX) and he came to the high school via the helicopter. Durant's airport has the runway length for AF1, but can't handle the weight.

So, I think that the plan was he was going to take Marine One (helicopter) from Denton to Durant, but had to do the 1.5 hour drive (something I use to do after going to shows in Denton at Rubber Gloves in the 2000s).

The midseason "Mandalorian" storyline didn't really bother me, but I do see that it hampered this show from being it's own thing within the Post-Jedi Star Wars. Really, if they didn't have enough story for just Boba for a full season, this could have been a "television movie" and just focused

We finally had to get ours this year for the kiddo. He's on the spectrum and it's been great since he has some impluse problems (especially at his favorite places), so having these just makes it easier when we're at a busy place and we don't have to worry as much about getting him in and out safely

Hey Bluesky, just popping in to see if everyone was still mad at me for suggesting that people should have some AI training so that they can have the knowledge to know when something is AI generated or not.

Logging in to see my mutuals.
A colorful screen capture of Hank and Dale from the animated series King of the Hill. They are unloading the trunk of a mustard yellow four door sedan. Hank is on the left wearing a white t-shirt, jean, brown shoes and eyeglasses holding a blue sleeping bag. Dale is on the right wearing a brown button shirt, mirrored aviator sunglasses, jeans, brown shoes and an orange baseball cap. He’s smoking a cigarette, holding a box and a six pack of beer saying: “Oh, man, what kind of lefty hootenanny is this?”

On this day in 1933, Nazis raided the Magnus Hirschfeld library in Berlin. The world’s greatest collection of LGBTQ books and scientific papers were looted and later burned, erasing decades of research into sexuality and gender identity. ‘Where they burn books, in the end they will burn humans too’.

LLMs are part of the AI stack just as Machine Learning. Look, I'll agree that the big corps have pushed LLMs on all of us just in search of profit, to the detriment of us all, but it's out there and we probably need to know how to use it safely and efficiently is all I'm saying.

As for the rich not enrolling their kids in a class like this, I would hate to break it to you but these kids are probably going to schools with all the latest tech because they can afford it, unlike kids in public schools using hand me down Chromebooks every year

If it was me teaching it? - Be mindful of what info you give the AI. You don't want it being trained on your private data or information. - Verify the info it gives you. It can generate alot of info quickly, so know that what it gave you is correct - Know what to look for if you think someone gave

In the 90s, we were taught how to safely and responsibly use the internet, and I don't think my parents were worried that they were going to teach us how to look up bomb making materials or download copies of The Turner Diaries.

the safe way. This tech isn't going away. The bubble will burst, because what Musk, Altman, Google, Microsoft, and the rest are doing isn't sustainable. We saw something similar with the dotnet crash in 99/2000, but the internet didn't go away, and genAI won't either. 6/6

Your mom or your grandma is on the internet, and they ask a chatbot about things all day long. Maybe we teach them about the limitations of this tech and how to be safe with it, so they can use it without getting into trouble. The same with kids, just teach them how to use it 5/6

work on when I sit down to code. Now, should junior developers or students be relying entirely on genAI to write code for them? No, but it's a tool they will be using in some form or fashion in the future, so let's teach them how to use it responsibly. 4/6

As a software dev, I use Codex as part of my workflow to quickly scaffold new projects or POC new concepts, which isn't that different from how I've used Visual Studio for 20 years. Codex helps me do that rather quickly, so that I can work on what I actually need to 3/6

There's not much commercial use for genAI at the moment (other than plagiarism and slop). However, it's out there, and, like it or not, people are either using it or being served information generated by genAI, so we should be teaching people how to use it where it makes sense for them. 2/6

I seem to have touched a nerve with this, so let me further explain my thoughts. First, how genAI (Chatbots, LLMs, etc) are being forced down our throats is a travesty, but that's capitalism for you. These tech companies are all trying to make a buck by forcing this onto us, even though 1/6

True, but it's not just genAI that we should be teaching kids about, as AI is more than just Chatbots and LLMs.

You're correct that we haven't found how to best use it in the workplace, but that doesn't mean that at some point it won't be commonplace within the next 5 to 10 years. Hell, I was being taught how to safely navigate the internet back in the 90s when it was still seen as a toy.

You're not wrong about the elites sending their kids to private, better-funded schools, but our kids are still going out into a world where this tool will be used by them in some form or fashion. Might as well teach them how to use it.

To be fair, we should be teaching everyone how to use AI effectively and responsibly. Look, it isn't going anywhere. Granted, the bubble bursting could lessen its impact on most people's lives on a day-to-day basis, but it's part of the tech stack.

So, Jamie, it's time. Your number needs to hang in the rafters. You help transition this team from the depths caused by the bankruptcy to a juggernaut in the West. You can hold your head up high with all you have accomplished. 3/3 #texashockey

I didn't want him to retire after last summer because I wanted him to get that 400th goal and see if this team could get over the hump and play in the Cup finals. While the first thing did happen, the second didn't, and Jamie looked like a 37-year-old on the ice in the 1s round. 2/3 #texashockey

I graduated with a guy who didn't know that the South lost the Civil War, and how he's a city councilman, so there's a good chance that Markwayne got through school on his daddy's plumbin' business reputation and not his book smarts.

I'm sure Markwayne can't point out Iran or Iraq on a map. We're both graduates of the Oklahoma Public School system, and there's a high chance he's part of the graduating population that led us to be 50th in the nation.
