i am so fucking tired of the "protect the children from pronouns and gender nonconformity" charade (let's be real it's a trans extermination campaign) from ppl who don't even pretend to care about protecting children from getting murdered at school

a weird thing i think about a lot is how my height makes the lowest shelves at bookstores almost prohibitively cumbersome to browse and how that's probably resulted in many authors going totally unnoticed by me simply because their books are at the level of my shoelaces instead of my eyes

💙📚 #booksky this was a good book, would be a nice one to read in a sequence with 'gut text' by mike corrao and 'the book' by amaranth borsuk ☺️ i'm now 2/2 with danielle collobert this year
excerpt from 'it then' by danielle collobert (tr. norma cole):

to choose its voices for that - the one of the body there - stretched against it then - under it - or stuck to itself - in the initial position - mouth against hip - crushed - hands gliding along thighs - legs tangled - lying in wait for a stirring at the heart - for necessary speech - to make say - to provoke the word - by body movements - pain sweetness

to choose the flow of the body - speech - choice of desire's hesitation - of the desirable - to want - circuit of desire

the words "room three" in all caps, italicized, block letters with empty insidesexcerpt from 'philosophy of the sky' by evan isoline

Every day a man comes home from work and turns on the tv in his small one-bedroom apartment. His job is very boring, and he is very lonely. The man finds himself dreaming every night about the job he does. The man watches tv to differentiate his real-life work and his dream work. He is a very bored and lazy man. He often thinks up new ways to kill himself. The man goes to work, thinks about numerous ways to kill himself, watches tv in his apartment, and falls asleep. Every day he comes home more exhausted than the day before. He would like to find a way to stop working at the repetitive job, but he knows that he won't. The result is that when he comes home, he becomes more and more depressed and tired. The man comes home every day feeling like he has failed and hates himself more each day. The man becomes totally unable to discern the work he does in his sleep from the work he does in life. The man feels like he is constantly working, except when he is watching tv.

One day the man is dismayed to find that the programs he enjoys are becoming shorter and shorter until one day the tv plays advertisements exclusively. The result is a rapid decline in the quality of his work-in real life and in his dreams. This man feels very disconnected from the real world. He is not able to be present in it. He is beginning to sleep less each night. He would like to meet a woman but is disgusted with himself and knows he never will. The man decides to buy pornographic tapes to watch on his VCR but quickly becomes ashamed and throws the tapes away. The man begins to lose focus at work and his appearance becomes filthy and disheveled. One day the man comes home and instead of watching commercials on tv he decides to go to a clothing store and buy women's underwear and women's clothes. The man begins to dress up as a woman every day when he gets home from work. The man goes to work, thinks about numerous ways to kill himself, dresses…excerpt from 'philosophy of the sky' by evan isoline

The man begins to enjoy pretending to be a woman. His desire to meet a woman in real life begins to fade. He looks in the mirror, sucking his belly in, swaying back and forth while extending his legs, making glamorous expressions at himself in the mirror. He begins to masturbate when he is dressed as a woman. The man starts to leave work early to buy new women's clothes and underwear. The man secretly watches women on the street outside of his job, studying their mannerisms. In his apartment, the man does exercises with his voice to sound more effeminate. The man begins to develop many sexual fantasies. The man imagines he is a woman being penetrated by a man. This makes him feel vulnerable, humiliated and angry. At work, the man imagines himself killing the man that has penetrated him. This makes him feel very excited. The man gets up from his desk walking toward the restroom and is surprised when his boss asks him into his office and fires him.

On the walk to his car, and on the drive back to his apartment, the man is confused and disoriented. He gets to his apartment, changes into women's clothes and underwear and sits down with his eyes glazed over as he turns on the tv. On tv is a commercial for the company he worked for. The man worked for an insurance company. The commercial shows a man and a woman naked in bed, under the sheets. The man has a gun drawn trying to convince the woman that he isn't a man. The woman starts laughing and tells him to point the gun at himself. The man does so and threatens to kill himself. The laugh-track of a large audience crackles through the speakers as the man on tv raises the gun to his head.

We see the man in the commercial drop the gun and lean forward straight into the camera. Cones of smoke shoot out of his nostrils. We see the man looking at the camera with his eyes red. The woman says critically, "This looks like a horror movie" and proceeds toward the door. The man…excerpt from 'philosophy of the sky' by evan isoline

💙📚 this book is very cool and very Strange and you should give it a read if you want something that's gonna tickle your brain aggressively and (un)pleasantly ☺️
"I mean this in the most approbatory sense of the word: Evan Isoline's Philosophy of the Sky is childlike in that the world presents itself to the narrators as at once wondrous, terrifying, dizzying, and complex; as a plane of infinite interpretive possibility where mystic structures underpin experiences of the embodied self, desire, and the atmosphere. Sublime, obsessive, sensuous, and psychedelic, this is an exciting full-length debut from one of the US's foremost innovators of the orthodox Surreal. Do you feel like shit? Buy this book. Do you feel great? Buy this book. Do you feel ambivalent about most things? Buy this book."

Logan Berry, author of Transmissions to Artaud and Run-off Sugar Crystal Lake

"Philosophy of the Sky navigates the human body as an abstracted and foreign machine. It is driven without full understanding of its mechanics. Its neural interior is explored without a precursory knowledge of where each thread will lead. The grooves of the brain are surveyed as an alien topography. Language is corporealized into amorphous blobs. Probed, investigated, experimented upon. Isoline presents the book-object as an autonomous entity. It does not need us. It grows, mutates, writhes whether or not we are looking. The page-matter thrives and grows. Spreading like moss or mold. An esoteric 'I' (perhaps the text itself) animates the inanimate, mapping a new understanding of what a book can be through its formal innovation and intimate script."

Mike Corrao, author of Gut Text and Smut-Maker

excerpt from 'philosophy of the sky' by evan isoline:

I imagine a quiet secluded setting. Outside of the room. A place that is the antithesis of the material world. A place of pure emotion.
I find it in the woods when the sun turns off.
Deep within the stately silhouettes of firs, pines and alders the moonlight pours down on the soft earth as it grows deeper and darker. I see my own reflection in a tepid, moonlit slough. The night is alive. My body is alive with it. My tongue caress-es the smooth bark of an oak, and I feel my body grow warmer. I find a monolithic stone. I touch my lips to the cool moss. I taste the sea. My tongue rakes and drags over the lush, green graffitis. In the starlight I lick crop circles through flaming lichens.
I slip behind the monolith and lower myself quietly into a splay of salal and sword fern. Through the umbral fronds I observe numerous registrations of space as the moonlight permeates dense stratifications of fractional limb-forms and spatterings of dark foliage. I look around me. The leaves are like a window frame to a world beyond, and I see that I am at the edge of this world. I gaze upward through the high canopy, "I will be with you" I speak to the trees. "I will be with you", I tell the forest. I hear the birds sing and the insects hum. I tell them. "I will be with you", "I will be with you", I tell the stones.

I'm in that's in
