So from @andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social's life blog, Zia Yusuf has said that "We’re not going to be sending people back to be tortured or killed." Which presumably needs a process for working out if that's going to happen to someone or not. Which starts to sound a bit like an asylum process?

📺 I'm really glad to see so much positive press around our motion supporting trans and non-binary people's rights in Oxford. This was spotted by @apowelllaw.bsky.social's nan and mum all the way down in Dorset tonight! Much more work to be done, but we will get there. 🏳️‍⚧️ www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

And, since I know Zack sometimes reads my posts, I want to be really clear: this isn't an attack. But your impulse to seek affirmation is going to undo everything. You need to get real. Irrespective of the merits or the motion, the party is at the eye of the storm and you are its leader. Lead.

Also liking sub tweets about journalists is giving them another thing to report on. Stop it now. The leadership needs to get serious about the situation at hand or consider their position.

Being asked if Israel has a right to exist is an entirely predictable outcome of Zionism is Racism being passed and both Zack and the press office should be prepared. This is going to be every interview for the next 6 months. It is simply not tenable to try and ignore or wait out the question.

Congrats to all for a great campaign. So sorry it wasn’t enough this time, but tripling our vote share was huge. On Zack’s next steps - his leadership has led to huge party successes. I hope he can now bring same leadership to help resolve huge issues we face & transform our internal structures too

While focused on this by-election, he has shown lapses of judgment and leadership. But we also need to be balanced and recognise that we wouldn't even be in a position to compete without the transformations the party has seen under his leadership.

On the one hand, 33% in a Westminster by-election was unthinkable 2 years ago. We must not lose sight of that. On the other hand, it's disappointing to have stood our leader and thrown so much resource at things and to fall that far short. The next few weeks, and how Zack responds, is crucial.

My comment to BBC Oxfordshire on Monday's motion about the EHRC Code of Practice and Trans Rights: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
'Oxford has the highest density of transgender and non-binary people outside of London, according to the census.

The proposals were put forward by Oxford Green Party councillor Dr Max Morris, who said they would help the trans community feel safe at a time when "moral panic" had led to "harassment and discrimination".

Photo of Max with caption: Dr Max Morris put forward a motion recommitting the council to following trans-inclusive policies

Morris said there had been "a lot of uncertainty and a lot of confusion" about what the updated EHRC guidance meant''Morris said they hoped by the city council showing leadership in supporting the trans community, other businesses, local authorities and community groups would follow suit.

"The real issue here is the uncertainty for an already marginalised minority group, but also for local businesses, charities, public service providers including Oxford City Council," they said.

"How on earth are we supposed to navigate this when the guidance is so unclear?"

To Jewish members of the Green Party: Assurances, from the motion proposers, that they had no intention for Jewish members to feel targeted for their beliefs or associations have been clear. And if anyone else does try to use it in this way, I will be there for you with my solidarity and support.
Statement reads: As Greens, we will always uphold universal human rights.

We will never tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment.

We will continue to stand in opposition to genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and the illegal occupation.

We will continue to call out the heinous crimes of the Netanyahu government.

And we will continue to work to ensure that the Green Party is an anti-racist party in every way.

We know there is no conflict between supporting the rights of Palestinians and the rights of Jewish people.

The "Zionism is racism" motion, to be debated at the Green Party conference tomorrow, will not advance the Palestinian cause one inch. But, if adopted, it would marginalise and discredit the party. There are powerful ways to confront the genocide. Toxic gesture politics isn't one of them.

Also wonderful to see support for RNL and a politician speaking against fascist vigilantism.

What is this framing from the BBC? Is it not preferable for politicians to admit when they don't have sufficient information than to speak off the hoof? Saying you don't know enough shows integrity and I am baffled by the framing the BBC has chosen to adopt. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Labour continues to bring forward the Immigration Bill, which creates permanent precarity, locking people out of citizenship for a generation and dramatically restricting settlement, it's like Nigel Farage's Christmas list. In this context, to speak of humanitarian values is hypocrisy.

Hundreds of pensioners continue to face criminal charges in relation to the Terrorism Act 2000. I fail to see how that is compatible with the Foreign Secretary telling Palestine activists 'you were right'. While welcome, this intervention only deepens the farcical nature of Labour's response.

It's jarring for students- who in my classes are being told that the use of AI is never acceptable and will result in reporting for misconduct- to be doing their readings on a system which offers the shortcuts right next to what they are reading and seems to actively try and spark corner cutting

Why has Jstore added an AI assistant, which you cannot close, to the side panel next to whatever you are reading? It's like a conscious calculation to diminish the cognitive abilities of those engaged in intellectual work. Please cease with the enforced AI bloatware. Nothing is better with AI.

Delayed decisions on Jackdaw and Rosebank, delayed decisions on a Heathrow Third runway. Sanctions on Israel in relation to settler violence. None of this would be happening if Labour didn't see a threat to its left. It's absolutely vital that Labour continues to feel that pressure.
