Got my copy of @apoetlibrarian.bsky.social's new book in the mail this morning. Going to re-read it over some ginger tea.
The cover of Melissa Eleftherion's book Suture. It has a picture of a framed artwork that shows a womanesque figure pierced twice through where the heart goes and two birds flying at head level.Melissa Eleftherion starts with "how we're taught / to contain / the abject" and takes us through a journey where "family / was / a/ secret war." These erasure poems depict a struggle through trauma, doubt, and worth to come out the other side "resolve[d] / to matter." Suture gives us a well-crafted, important narrative that will stay with us. — David Harrison Horton, Necessary

REVOLUTIONARY LETTER #14

are you prepared
to hide someone in your home indefinitely
say, two to six weeks, you going out
for food, etc.. so he never
hits the street, to keep your friends away
coolly, so they ask no questions, to nurse
him, or her, as necessary, to know
'first aid' and healing (not to freak out
at the sight of torn or half-cooked flesh)
to pass him on at the right time to the next
station, to cross the canadian border, with a child
so that the three of you
look like one family, no questions asked,
or fewer, to stash letters, guns, or bombs
forget about them
till they are called for. to KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT
not to trust '
even your truelove, that is,
lay no more knowledge on him than he needs
to do his part of it, a kindness
we all must extend to each other in this game

Re: Covid vax ban, they have backed down before in the face of pushback on medical issues. This requires outcry from the public and electeds. Use @5calls.org and @resist.bot to contact your reps. Here is a script. I'm focusing on "most vulnerable" as those move the narrative the easiest.
The GOP antivax agenda is now considering the complete banning of covid vaccines. These life-saving vaccines protect our most vulnerable against a disease that we still do not totally understand. Seniors, immunocompromised, and disabled people will die without them. I urge you to publicly fight back against this move. The very lives of your constituents are in play, and the administration has shown that they will back down with enough pushback. Please speak loudly on this, your voice is needed.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy. I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.
