My great technician is leaving the lab, and I'm trying to replace her. Are you or someone you know interested in evolutionary genomics research that combines animals experiments (with flies!) and molecular biology? Come work with me! Application info at the link evoldir.net/brian/evoldi...

Tiny Chameleons! By looking at gene family evolution in two South African dwarf chameleons with contrasting forested vs open-canopy habitats, researchers revealed habitat-specific lineages differ in the functional categories genes display across families! doi.org/10.1093/evol... 🌍🧪👇

A new issue of CSH Protocols is out! @cshlpress.bsky.social The cover image highlights the work by Sabin, @dbmenke.bsky.social, et al. who describe a surgical approach for oocyte injection and CRISPR–Cas9 mutagenesis in Anolis Lizards. ⬇️Links below

Back in 2023, members of my lab came together to write a review on recent applications of machine learning in biological research. I'm excited to share that the paper is now out in BMC Biology! link.springer.com/article/10.1...

New paper by my lab! PhD student @fallonmeng.bsky.social set out to use whole genome sequencing of Spotted Lanternfly from China & the US to better understand the invasion... and discovered that adapting to the city may be the key to their invasive success! royalsocietypublishing.org/rspb/article...

Tonight's doodling for the book illustration library was all about beefcake anole lizards. You can join for these twitch streams as I get the whole dang book illustrated piece by piece over on twitch.tv/SarahMackAttack
two beefcake lizards, one is doing a one-armed push up, making a muscle and freshly having kissed his bicep with a thigh tatt. The other is showing off his dewlap and flexing standing on his back legs with a sweat band on his head and wrists

Our NY area population genetics meeting is back and "upgraded", as Simons Foundation @simonsfoundation.org generously agreed to host. Please save the date: March 9, 2026. Look forward to seeing many of you from NY and beyond.

@raularayadonoso.bsky.social @kenrokusumi.bsky.social @anthonygeneva.bsky.social et al. compared the genomes of Anolis species, finding evidence of structural variation and signatures of selection associated with phenotypic diversity. 🔗 doi.org/10.1093/gbe/evaf196 #genome #evolution #anolis
