i've been put down a lot and that hurt to begin with, but dealing with disability and abandonment as a constant the last few years has made me sm worse about it all. the value i have in myself is in spite of sm pain. not even sure if i'm talking about art anymore, i just stumbled into an epiphany.

my self-worth has always been a little messy but especially after things started to go downhill for me a few years ago i've just been a wreck. there's nothing i hate more than being viewed as less than my peers or less than i *am*. i gotta figure that out. i wish it were easier.

i think part of it is fear of judgment — i know i could do better if i just pushed myself harder, waited a little longer, so why put something out knowing it could invite avoidable criticism? i've had the floor of my potential judged like the ceiling so many times, in so many ways. it really sucks.

i need to unlearn holding my work to a higher standard than everyone else. if the way i perceived the quality of others' work is a straight line, my self-criticism is more like an exponent. it's ironic too, i celebrate the human error in others' work but when it comes to myself it just makes me mad.
