One Battle After Another made me laugh a lot, but it goes on far too long & I couldn't help feeling uncomfortable laughing at white nationalists & anti-imperialist revolutionaries when one is more deadly than ever & the other more necessary than ever My review at @screenanarchy.bsky.social

As Chicago continues to be used as a rhetorical device by the right, I want to highlight the abundance of Latin American and queer film screenings (starting this week through the end of Sept) between @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social's Crucemos Al Otro Lado programming & @reelingfilmfest.bsky.social!

Poster for Crucemos Al Otro Lado at the Music Box Theatre, September 14-24, 2025, featuring El Topo (by Alejandro Jodorowsky, 1971) on 35MM, The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez (by Robert M. Young, 1982), and Life Within the Lens: Chicago, Alli, Y Mas (a shorts program).

Poster for Reeling 2025, September 19-28, the 43rd Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival.

BIG NEWS: this fall i’m starting a PhD at McGill University 🎥 🎪 🎭 📹!but before i move to Montréal, i’m making my first narrative feature in Chicago, a psychological horror film about a group of theater actors beset by both an abusive director and a poltergeist: seedandspark.com/fund/quiet-i...

seedandspark.com

Quiet in the House - Film and Storytelling | Seed&Spark

Quiet in the House is a psychological horror film about four women inspired and tormented by their manipulative theater director–and an unseen supernatural force. An examination of sadomasochism in artistic production, the film asserts the need for community over isolation in the face of fear.

The most vital thing you can do right now is spread this message offline to normies. There is no "unrest", there's a protest. It has 400 people. LA does worse when the Lakers come in 3rd in a season.

Not spending money on HP-related stuff is a very low bar to clear. You have no excuse for not clearing it, especially if you claim to be a trans ally.
