you will encounter more opportunities in life to change the batteries on a smoke alarm than you will to run into a burning building and no one gives a shit you changed those batteries but it is still very important and why are you waiting on a burning building, know what i’m saying, it’s a metaphor

100%. For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract. They had a shitload of gear to tour with, so if they’re skipping one thing, it’s guaranteed they’re skipping something essential.

All this talk of 'advanced civilisations' is annoying me to fuck. A faint awareness of how these terms have been weaponised against Indigenous people and mobilised to further colonialism, and a willingness to engage with the disciplines who analyse and critique them, would go a long way! 🧪 🔭 🏺

This beautiful gold enamelled spoon is from early 19th-century Iran. The art of enamelling was especially popular during the Qajar period, which this spoon dates from. Water pipe bases, swords and daggers, mirrors, and tableware are some of the types of objects which were painted with enamels.

there's a line in Leland Sklar's tribute video where he says that the world is not a lesser place today, because Dolly's presence in the world was so powerful that it is still here - she made so many good choices that are going to benefit people for a long time to come. I count this among them!

the modular customisation of the Slate EV seems like it could have potential for this - unfortunately they still only offer a yank tank front, where I'd much rather trade "frunk" space for reduced vehicular homicide capabilities.

Lots of excitement about the squeaky beach sounds in Big Walk! You'll all be happy to know it's the real thing! Was absolutely giddy to get to record them on an actual Australian squeaky beach in Wilson's Promontory. Yes, if you didn't know some beaches there really do squeak. It is pure joy.

Interesting. In Brisbane Australia there are a few zones in large parks where alcohol is officially permitted, but we also have free electric bbqs in a lot of parks, and casual drinking has always seemed to be fairly normalised/tolerated when using those.
