In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

Head Over Heels! I didn’t even play it to start with, but watched my parents play it, both taking turns, and my mum mapping it on graph paper. I later got the hang of playing it. Pretty epic arcade-adventure with early elements of what we’d now call a Metroidvania. Wonderful pixel art too.
Head Over Heels (1986), the first screen/room.

Screenshot is of the Amstrad CPC version. I actually played the ZX Spectrum 48k version as a child, but the CPC version looks nicer. And is technically the ‘prime’ version of the game.

Seeing live music tonight? Yes.
Flier for a live gig where Jon Anderson is playing a set of Yes songs with his backing band which he discovered on YouTube.

According to the Odeon website, only the IMAX and the more expensive premium screenings will have the extra scene… Which will apparently only be 2 minutes. Amazing.
Text: SYNOPSIS
Infinity Vision, Dolby Vision and IMAX shows will have special footage with a runtime of 185 mins.
All other screenings will have a runtime of 183 mins.

I think that explains why random video ‘recommendations’ by the YouTube algorithm have titles along the lines of “is X the best Y ever?” or (“worst Z ever l”). It’s bloody tiring.

Haven’t been to Bakewell since the Dreamcast was the hottest new games system, but I still remember there being loads of bakeries in close proximity all claiming to sell the authentic ‘proper’ Bakewell tart. Possibly originating it as well.

Andy Burnham unveils his new Minister for AI.
Death’s Head, the Marvel (UK) comics character. Created by comic writer Simon Furman, Death’s Head is mechanoid anti-hero, and very mid/late ‘80s in ‘attitude’. He crossed over with Doctor Who, Transformers, Fantastic Four and various other Marvel comics properties.

Don’t think I’ve listened to Radio 1 since ~2004. Other than when I’ve occasionally caught snippets of it over the last decade or so, and it’s always left me confused and terrified.

I think they’ve made it like the mainland European equivalent, which has a rather unfortunate product name.
Picture of a Langnese Nogger ice cream stick thing. It looks like a Walls Feast, but with a runny inside filling rather than hard chocolate.

Looking up some old photos of the Hampshire Centre that used to exist in Bomo. It looks far worse than I remembered. Either the online photos available are all from the doldrums not long before it was demolished, or, yeah. It was crap.

Perhaps he’s a fan of an infamous Italian political party? Funny how these British ultra-patriots always seem to pick foreign symbols.
