A heat dome w/hot and humid weather has been occuring over much of the country putting outdoor workers at risk. Bodies cannot cool down enough to keep safe just by sweating & hydrating with weather like this. Even worse in most states there aren't heat safety protections. #Calor #WeFeedYou

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Just got gassed pretty good at the labor union anti-ICE protest in Portland. Massive march, 5-10k strong. Vibes were very much liberal rather than radical. Lots of kids and older folks. They gassed the whole crowd as soon as it marched on ICE, in broad daylight.

Just returned home from the anti-ICE protest in Portland today. A 100% peaceful crowd that the Portland Police Department (PPD) estimated to be "in the thousands" marched past ICE's Portland HQ. ICE, of course, responded with a barrage of tear gas and chemical rounds to suppress free speech.

DHS doesn’t even bother trying to lie well. The man whose skull was shattered told the hospital he’d been struck by ICE officers, an ICE officer told hospital staff the guy “got his sh*t rocked,” then when it became clear how badly he was injured, they claimed he deliberately ran into a wall.

ICE's account of how he was hurt evolved during the time that federal officers were at his bedside. At least one ICE officer told caregivers that Castañeda Mondragón "got his (expletive) rocked" after his Jan. 8 arrest near a St. Paul shopping center, the court filings and a hospital staff member said. His arrest happened a day after the first of two fatal shootings in Minneapolis by immigration officers.
The Department of Homeland Security, which includes ICE, did not respond to repeated requests for comment on his injuries. A deportation officer skirted the issue in the court documents, saying that during the intake process at an ICE detention center, it was determined he "had a head injury that required emergency medical treatment."

$But staff members at Hennepin County Medical Center determined that could not possibly account for the fractures and bleeding throughout the man's 31-year-old's brain, said three nurses familiar with the case. "It was laughable, if there was something to laugh about," said one of the nurses, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss patient care. "There was no way this person ran headfirst into a wall."$ Castañeda Mondragón was alert and speaking, telling staff he was "dragged and mistreated by federal agents," though his condition quickly deteriorated, the documents said.
The following week, a Jan. 16 court filing described his condition as minimally responsive and communicative, disoriented and heavily sedated.

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.

The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.

A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred. immigrantjustice.org/sites/defaul...

"Julio Noriega is 54 years old, was born in Chicago, and is a U.S. citizen.

On January 31, 2025, he was walking near the corner of Cermak Road and Harlem Avenue in Berwyn, Illinois, handing out his resume to local businesses.

As he walked out of a Jiffy Lube, he was approached by ICE officers who grabbed and handcuffed him and put him into a van, without an opportunity to explain his citizenship.

The officers drove Julio and others around for more than an hour before bringing him to an ICE processing center, where he remained, still handcuffed, for several more hours.

All the while, Julio had a wallet containing identification that ICE had confiscated.

The officers never showed Julio a warrant, and they did not ask him any questions to ascertain whether he was a noncitizen or a flight risk.

After about 10 hours, ICE officers reviewed the contents of Julio’s
wallet, realized he was a U.S. citizen, and released him with no money and no paperwork."

This is not how it works. Funds are appropriated by Congress. The President has some say in deciding how to implement Congress' appropriations, but he does not get to just stop paying for things that do not align with his priorities. That is against the law.
