At an author talk yesterday, and managing to look quite normal, which is unusual when I'm photographed mid-sentence. I pull some very strange faces when I talk 😅 #WriterInTheWild

Getting ready for an author talk in #Duloe, #Cornwall this afternoon. I'm keeping a steady eye on the movements of the train I plan to catch. I tend to wing these things, but this time I've got notes to keep me a little more on track. I wonder if they'll help 🤔

I confess, I'm still on Facebook. I have an author page & it's where most of my readers are. I've experimented, I know. Today I was prevented from posting because I'd reached the new 2-links-per-month quota, even though there were NO LINKS in that particular post. #WritingCommunity

Getting ready for a mammoth weekend of events - 1st-3rd October. Scarily ahead of myself on account of being currently wordless. Lots of thoughts but no words. Check my website for event details: annalisacrawford.com/events #Cornwall #Saltash #Looe #Duloe #WritersLife

I had a good idea for a story (novel/novella? Who knows?) A simple story. And yet, somehow, I now have to learn all about the Cornish fishing industry 🤦 #WritingCommunity #Researching #Cornwall

Looking to get my books into local indie bookshops, but they have to be on a relatively easy public transport route, and in my area, that's a challenge 🤨

I need to take some photos for a post. It means going downstairs, making myself a cuppa, and getting out a biscuit or two. But I'm afraid I'll eat the biscuits before I take the photo, and also, downstairs is all the way over there ↘️↘️↘️

Tonight, I managed to wake up before midnight and I've been awake ever since. I shall be embracing Wednesday (and a work shift) on exactly 1 hour of sleep. First breakfast eaten. First cuppa on the go 😴🫤 (4.23am in the UK, BTW)

Word Salad poetry night is taking place in Cambridge on Saturday 12 September at Marvin's in Mill Rd. Thea Lungu is headlining. I'll be reading a poem or two.
Poster for Word Salad in Cambridge on 12.09.2026 at Marvin's. Main text is in black. Word Salad is spelled in cut green cucumbers. In the centre of the poster is a circular, blue tinted, head and shoulders photo of a smiling woman with black, curly, shoulder length hair. I think one of my plans for next summer will be to tour around the UK meeting up with all the online author friends I've met over the years. We help and support each other, and celebrate and commiserate, but I've never met any of them. Life in the 21st century is a bit weird, isn't it?

"A compelling spectacle," says one person on this footage. Nope. A compelling spectacle is knowing that people have strived to be the very best they can be, that they've sacrificed and been rewarded by being selected to compete at the highest level.
