David Tony jacqui Darren just like the people I just named in 2016 | almost became a statistic. After going from a carers pension to jobseeker I attempted to end it.
When asked why I did what I did I told the psychiatrist that "I can't afford to live" now it's 2026 and with the cost of living and the housing crisis things are harder and more stressful then ever. I'm still here because I decided to be a thorn in the side of government. I'm here today because it's us that are losing our friends family and community to poverty. I once made the point in my blog that poverty kills but the cause of death is always written as heart
attack, stroke or suicide. It doesn't

attack, stroke or suicide. It doesn't convey what's behind those.
Those in government including mark butler our health minister will never experience having to skip medical appointments because he can't afford bus fare. That he doesn't have to ration medication or go without because he can't afford a 7.00 prescription. That he doesn't have to load up on carbs because pasta is cheap and it's his only meal for the day. That he's not isolated because he can't afford to go out for a coffee with friends.
Those of us in poverty are not asking for more money to go on holidays or live the high life like our politicians do we are asking that we have enough to survive. Enough to cover medical care food and safe secure housing. Give us back some dianitv. Funding more charities is

secure housing. Give us back some dignity. Funding more charities is not the answer funding people is.It's also not our politicians that hear the despair everyday from people in our communities because maybe if they had to listen like we do then things would change. I'II stop here because to be completely honest I could go on and on about poverty and the health implications but to end this I'm going to once again say David jacqui tony and Darren these people are not statistics these people are my friends and family that died too early due to poverty
