It is hilarious to me that this was able to nail the whole Great Lakes vowel shift thing, but it's still unable to name any part of New York north of white plains.

I started the season with 15 tomato seedlings. Had a few die to dampening off, some croaked when I transplanted, had around 10 in the ground. Deer, pests, well-meaning helpers decimated them, until I had only one tomato plant left, in a fabric bag off to the side. It was doing alright, growing slow.

My then-9 year old kept getting UPSET at this book because adults would come in contact with these kids, CLEARLY see they were homeless then shrug like "eh, probably fine, keep living in your train car."
