I worked at AbFab DVD Nouveau in Joburg in high school (2000s). The most incredible collections - specialist directors, 'foreign language', art films, documentaries. It was HUGE! Multiple rooms. Lines out the door on weekends. It slowly contracted floor space over time, and finally shut its doors 😭

Large scale historical datasets are very hard to come by. Historical research is often about pulling scraps of different things together to make sense of it all. Historical primary sources can be considered *traces* of the past, because so much stuff goes unrecorded.

NASDAQ basically force-loaded about $25 billion of SpaceX stock into passive investor portfolios (aka, people's pension and retirement funds) by jamming SpaceX into its index right at IPO time rather than waiting the standard 30-60 days. Billions of dollars of unrealized losses already.
