So this is extremely violent and disturbing neocon rhetoric. www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art...
After the U.S. and Iran say they’ve reached a tentative deal to end the war, Prime Minister Mark Carney is calling the conflict “worth it” if it means Iran does not have a nuclear weapon.

Carney made the remarks in an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, on Tuesday, when asked directly if the war was “worth it in Canada’s view.”

“I’ve always believed that (Iran is) the biggest exporter of terror,” Carney told CNN. “It was hell-bent, sorry if I can say that, on getting a nuclear weapon, and the force multiplier on that was terrible.”

“Lots needs to happen,” Carney later added. “We all have to support (the deal). But moving to this position, where that’s been taken off the table. Yes, that’s worth it.”

Canada's foreign policy in the Middle East amounts to saying if Israel even imagines it could be attacked, it's perfectly justified in not only retaliating but doing preemptive strikes. If Iran is attacked, it should just accept that, and if it defends itself it should be further punished.

Recall the spike in oil prices when Russia invaded Ukraine. The companies then used the economic shock to price gouge as well. The war was a windfall for them, a lucky break.

Today's budget was underwhelming and troubling. Our leaders always have the choice of who makes the "sacrifice" — everyday people, the most vulnerable, big corporations, or the most wealthy. This budget asks us to tighten our belts while military & oil companies find themselves flush with cash.

Anjali Appadurai @anjaliappadurai.bsky.social · 05/11/2025
It's winning time!!! Mamdani's win caps off a brilliantly run campaign and gives us a shot in the arm for what movements already know: that we can & will win by telling the truth, demanding big things & refusing to dance with the establishment. Now watch the doubters pretend they were in all along!
