My parents beat me for 15 years, were emotionally cruel constantly (you should be grateful to us etc) until one last weekend of abuse I ran away. Right before going NC I tried to explain to mother, her response was "if only we'd known you were so unhappy at school." Narcissists never accept fault.

I've never even had a tikkytik anywhere. I'm never on public transport, but had a stay in a cardiac ward a couple of years ago and all the other old farts around me had their phones blaring non-stop. Good job nobody was needing rest and recovery! (I had headphones.)

Interesting it always seems to be from the one perspective? Goes without saying, I'm always on the side of the person who broke free. It's the hardest choice I ever made, it created its own problems, but I have never regretted it.

I went no contact (36 years ago). Won't bore/trigger/depress with details, but suffice to say it was, I believed then and now, life or death. My parents spread horrific rumours about me after I left (pregnant, drug addict etc) rather than ever say maybe we were a bit hard on her after all.

I think the impact of the work to rule shows that 'value for money' already goes a long way, with people already doing a lot of work beyond their prescribed duties. If that isn't value then what is? An Taoiseach, with zero respect, as none is due, can get fucked.

I have reached a stage of believing that no politician is in it for our benefit, nor has reached their position through merit. They are all compromised by greed and self-interest (and the highest of them likely by worse). I'd trust an estate agent before a politician (and I'd never trust an EA.)
